rhouses my missus bought a 13″ pro a year after me and hers lasted 3 years before huge problems. In the main, the Pros from 10 years ago are serious machines, worth every penny.

Still using my old Samsung from 2012 running on windows 7. Disk drive doesn’t work anymore which is a little annoying. Would definitely buy another Samsung

I have a mate who is a massive Apple fanboy. He runs his own business in professional photograph retouching for advertising. He’s recently ditched macs as they’re “just stupidly exprnsive and aren’t lasting like they used to”.

He’s now using Dell and very happy.

I use Dell laptops for work - have done for years and have zero complaints.

I think a lot depends on how IT literate a user is, you need to maintain your laptop much like a car or bike. If you use and abuse it then problems will occur

All the takeaways Rhouses orders has seriously slowed down his Mac.

I defo won’t be buying a Mac when the time comes as they’ve defo gotten less reliable of late and now most of the focus seems to be on cosmetics, much like they’re Phone range. The rest of the market have caught up which is good news for the consumer.

Was using Serato Vinyl and sometimes Traktor for most of those years with that 2013 Macbook Pro. Gave it a proper workout regularly. And then after a couple of updates by 2019, doing anything would take ages.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re great… I just think some of you have forgotten how quick they can be if they’re not 10 years old.

I use mine primarily for music and getting software that’s compatible with el capitan is more than a headache.

BlainSA no, I can’t get the latest. I have the one that came out in 2017?? Not sure, but it works fine.

I also have an iMac 2011 2.5ghz 16gb Ram / 1TB SSD and the only issue with it is it’s stuck on High Sierra.

It’s to do with a newer graphics setup called Metal that doesn’t work on very old AMD GPU units (or sales BS).

However, someone online found out how to get a second hand Nvidia k1100m / 2100m (common in loads of old laptops) and install it and that then lets you upgrade to the newest OS with a tutorial on YouTube.

Worth doing as there’s literally nothing wrong with it for what I do.
