It can also be very difficult to find a quiet spot to talk about mortgage increments.
FAO OF Carl Cox fans
seanc80 Millsy already belted on train beers at 11pm when Coxy starts dropping the hammer, disappointed at the non-chug tempo and trying to have “a word in your shell-like” about tracker mortgages, trouser legs rolled up to show off his Jordan tattoo and olive New Balance monstrosities.
Grim doesn’t begin to describe it.
So, so true
Seen him at Cream and Bugged out plenty of times, always been boss. Saw him at Feel circa 98 and was amazing. No mic back then iirc, which I think was for the best. Having seen live streams of him recently and the like, I can understand why he’s become a swerve.
See Coxy a few times. Always been fun. But I’m pretty easy to please in a club. Don’t need much to enjoy myself.
He draws a crowd of what looks like Dave Matthews fans here in the US. People with beaded car seat covers who like buying stickers on the venue’s parking lot, ex.
I can remember when Coxy played at Bedrock and everyone on the old board was up in arms about his fans.
“We don’t need their sort”
I imagine he holds the record amongst Djs for most married couples who first met on one of his dance floors.
Tbf, if you are capable of having a room temperature IQ then Coxy seems like a fun time out.
I bet he doesn’t play tunes that sample Cheers.
Everyone wanking on back in the day about Cox playing on three decks. Yeah, great. His music selection has always been bone.
Three decks of absolute shite.
I’d rather just the two thanks.
Smallman1 Didn’t go but sounded horrific.
It was
He’s a party DJ. His last set at Space is fucking great. Did a rip before it disappeared from Youtube. 9 hours of classics.
Says in that link that Cox will be playing his live set 3-5am, so maybe it could be a decent gig up to 3am then head home
He’ll always have a place in my heart for playing my stuff many moons ago.
I quite like the cunt tbh. Proper OG. Some of his mixtapes in the early to mid 90s were legendary. Seen him tear the roof off a couple of venues. Doesn’t appeal to fans of Dixon either which is a massive plus.
There was a BPM special from around 92/93 with him and Trevor Rockliffe from Eclipse. Absolute belter of a show. 3 decks. Tearing the place up. Legend is thrown around far too easily but he’s certainly earned it.
Cox can be great fun when he’s playing house. Or an old school rave set.
His techno mixes are beyond awful.
Seems like a really happy and positive guy tho, and def one of the pioneers. For that he gets love.
Comes across well in this…
His self autobiography was dull because he’s such a positive bloke. No drama, apart from the 2007 shooting at his gig in South America. It was 300 pages of then this happened. Was fun reading about the 80s raves though.
Spent his early life in South London did Carl, ledge.
Ties his shoes inexplicably tight does Carl, Ledge.
Born in Tooting chief.
Admittedly raised in Hampton Court.
Dutchy to be along in 5,4,3…
I definitely remember you saying you were raised in Surrey Edwand.
Smallman1 Born in Tooting
Must have been in St George’s Hospital. The only redeeming feature of London’s morning bowel movement that is Tooting.
Still a step up from a place that legalised being a peado by lowering the age of consent hey Dave
