whatever The problem is his overwhelming urge to be right all the time, which narrows his capacity for subtlety, nuance and understanding that people can hold a view capable of operating at different levels. For example, missing the “beyond” part of Beyond Berghain that clearly signalled the main point of the branding was – beyond – the realms of Berghain. That was lost on him though and he got carried away with the idea of whether it was authentic enough.
You accusing me of lacking subtlety and nuance, and being incapable of holding a view operating at different levels, is probably the funniest thing I’ve read all day.
But if you want yet more subtlety and nuance then fine: I clearly have not missed the “beyond” part of the title - typically for something to go “beyond” something else you have to pass by or through whatever it is you are going beyond. That is impossible if you’ve never even been near the thing in your life. In a more metaphorical sense, logically for a person to be able to go “beyond” something requires them having some knowledge of what it is they are indeed going beyond.
You can also consider that by the people choosing the branding claiming that they are going “Beyond Berghain” that the connotations of “beyond” also suggests that they are somehow either building upon it, or even surpassing it. Both possibilities are also clearly absurd and likely arrogant given the nature of what they are actually doing and the people involved.
As for “understanding that people can hold a view capable of operating at different levels” - this seems to have been lacking in you regarding my original comment, if you go back and re-read it. Had the mix simply been called something like ’whatever’s November tech-house mix’ or ’whatever’s 60 minutes of music which doesn’t really have anything to do with a club I have no knowledge of’ then that would have been fine and it wouldn’t have raised an objection. Then I might have listened and only commented on the music, and made a comment along the lines of the other “layer” of my post, which was that the mix is “not bad”.
whatever Honestly, I just feel like I shouldn’t have posted the mix for all of the bollocks it has caused over the the most petty inconsequential pathetic objection raised by someone like Hugo.
Again, as I said earlier if you really think it was so “inconsequential” then you could have just briefly considered it and then shrugged it off with a “whatever”, but instead you’ve let it get to you to a needless degree.
