Probably the only set from Crane that will ever see the light of day. I saw him at the Gods Kitchen reunion the week before at Crane, he was ok, but Danny Howells obliterated him the set before.

Safe to say Crane will never open again. The police reported that they turned up to a murder and security were asking for help with crowd control. They guy was dead in the middle of the dance floor and the bar staff were cleaning the crime scene. The only surprising thing from the police statement was that they were surprised about the amount of drugs bags on the dance floor, this was branded a rave after all.

The checks going in were poor though.

Dry-Tinder No metal detectors, and the searches were merely a brush down, according a witness. Just waved in apparently. Licence will definitely get revoked in my opinion.

It was revoked yesterday. According to Sky News, Crane didn’t even oppose the decision. From a police point of view the whole thing was a train wreck.

      Does Craine have Abbleton installed?

ScottBailey sounds like it was a proper disaster, someone dead on the dance floor and security not knowing what to do. Just goes to show how important door staff is to venues.

I’m sure we have all thought door staff are wankers overs the years but they have an important role to play during the night. I hope venues learn from this

RichM sounds like it was a proper disaster, someone dead on the dance floor and security not knowing what to do.

Anyone who had been brought up going to clubs where JACKHAMMER PROG is played would know to stick Pounds and Penz on immediately while they can still be revived!

The best bit about Birmingham is leaving it.

          Absolute khazi.

          Phil-McRackin

Most of the events billed there have been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. There’s not really a market for a 5,000 capacity club in Birmingham.

Fuck me, pretty much all clubs would close under the same circumstances - doesn’t matter how rigorous the searches are, loads of shit will still get in.

There is whiff of hypocrisy. Fabric got stick from some on here for being shall we say vigilant and playing ball with the authorities. Can’t have it both ways.

Hardly ever see a metal detector, but that makes sense, but to be more draconian on drugs is just stupid - what the fuck do you think people are there to do in the first place? What did the police suspect was going on in the club?

Dry-Tinder yeah, I was sceptical when they opened and announced the autumn line up..trying to do a Printworks/WHP type thing. Might have have worked if they threw in a few UB40 tribute bands here and there.

Phil-McRackin made a mistake selling it as a Renaissance event. The name means nothing to your average Brummie clubber. Maceo Plex and friends would have done a lot better.

I imagine most people at the event probably dropped any drugs that they had on the dance floor as they were leaving, on account of the place about to be littered with police looking for a murder weapon. Probably about the only sensible thing that anyone did that night.

alistair not quite true, they have had a few Rennaisance nights over the last 5 or 6 yrs with Solomun, Tales of Us, Dixon, Sasha, some at the same venue where Crane is and all advertised as Rennaisance nights and they have so done well by all accounts. They also had there 20th Birthday here so it’s a well known brand in the city. Maybe it’s just more difficult to get the punters out of the Care Homes for long enough.
