‘Woke’ is the same kind of things as a ‘Social Justice Warrior’ / SJW. It’s an ideology as blinkered, over-simplistic and intolerant as most others. It’s an obsession with seeing “injustice” and “inequality” everywhere, but only when it’s convenient for your cause / side.
Its promoters/adherents are so often focused on seeing everything through the prism of race and racial injustice that it actually serves to divide people by race even more, with it often difficult not to conclude that they discriminate based on race (and demonstrate racism) as much or even more so than those they claim to be rallying against. Being ’woke" actually works against MLK’s dream of wishing to be judged not by the colour of his skin but by the content of his character.
As an aside, the term “gammon” is a negative slur based on the colour of a person’s skin. In theory it’s the kind of thing that someone who supposedly is “against racism” should wish to avoid and call out. However, because it’s directed at white people, and those on the receiving end aren’t bothered and overly-sensitive enough to kick up a big fuss about it, it’s typically let slide and perpetuated.

On the subject of Clarkson, he’s already had a very long and successful career, and his viewership figures are likely well on the slide already - so him being “cancelled” by Amazon now is an easy symbolic gesture for them.

I’m also not particularly fond of broad, simplistic stereotypes in general. For instance, funnily enough, supposed “gammon” Jeremy Clarkson actually voted Remain, and called Brexit voters “coffin-dodging idiots”.

God bless your little heart here for trying to explain the what and why in relation to a gammon but they are not a race per se, they’re just a racist, ignorant bunch of knuckledraggers, whose faces have turned a deep gammon red due to the amount of Tyskie lager they buy on special at Aldi.
