Northern side of the city, say a line from Victoria to Piccadilly is constantly changing. Northern quarter expanded, Ancoats now full of decent restaurants etc.

Massive amounts of investment to expand that further in the direction of Citeh’s ground as they’re building a massive new concert/entertainment venue out there.

Similar happening southern end of the city but not as in dire need as the northern end

Quite a lot of tech investment too.

Have bought a few apartments that are doing quite nicely out of it.

Like any city centre, there’s plenty of hobos and spice if an ‘earthier craic’ is more your thing - though obviously or recommended for delicate flowers like lil’ Stu

Stayed in Chorlton a few times. Thought it wasn’t too bad… Both times the weather was fucking freezing. The Bull’s Head on London Road is a decent boozer.

Manchester’s alright. Like other cities, it has its share of true scumbags and grotty bits.

I quite like the Manc ‘attitude’. At least it’s a city with an identity. It’s often been somewhat cooler than many cities of comparable size and importance (Sheffield, Leeds, Les-tah, Newcastle). I suppose Liverpool and Bristol would run it close in terms of culture and sporadic music scenes.

It does have a noticeable city centre Spice problem, though. Piccadilly Gardens is notably worse in that regard than big city centre gateway areas in other cities I’ve been to in recent years (Liverpool, Birmingham, London). Not really a good look for the city, given how many visitors arrive at Piccadilly and walk down towards Market Street.

Never understood people’s liking to Bristol. Always made me laugh when people I grew up with treated going there as a big day/night out. Mind you, I was always on the first train up to London to stay with family and get out in a proper city, whenever I could. Always though Bristol was a poor imitation of a decent city. Still thought that going back recently too.
