Along_the_Wire Budweiser was fucked anyway, no-one under the age of 40 drinks it over there unless it’s the only option at a stadium or whatever.
This is a small sample, and admittedly anecdotal, but I noticed there has been kind of a backlash against craft brew/‘postmodern’ and ironic adoption of mass-produced lagers among my nephew and his mates when I was back home. These are university-educated early 20s who are not totally skint either.
Purposely drinking Carlsberg, Heineken etc on a night out against the ‘beardy wankers’ who pay 30% extra for a hazy, overly-hopped, highly variable in quality craft brews.
Tastes are somewhat cyclical and now dem yoot are seeming to reject the artisanal pretentiousness of moneyed Millennials.
I can kind of understand it because sometimes (in fact, often) you just want a cheddar cheese toastie on white bread, rather than artisanal brie on sourdough.
