Cankles-McJeggings Then there’s the story of him unplugging all the desk and other equipment in what he considered his booth when s&d turned up.

Think Digweed debunked that, unfortunately as that would have been a funny bitchy queen move to pull.

zackster I recall the actual story behind that being half the sound system wasn’t connected up properly until he started to play, didn’t you state that Josh Wink did something similar at an event that you attended there, making previous DJs look incompetent. Sasha, has actually confirmed this on many occasions. It was even printed in Mixmag.

No no Wink would never. He is all peace love and good vibes.

The story I told was that Mauro Picotto allegedly did it to Carl Cox. I also think that one is bullshit as they have played at eachothers parties multiple times.

No he played Home in London on the Friday and Saturday. The night you mentioned was the Easter Weekend in 2000 I think.

Nice of Steve Dash to open up the sound system for Wink when he came on. This was very similar to the Sasha story

During the late 90’s, Twilo was a NY institution. Hosting the legendary residency of Sasha & Digweed as well as Junior Vasquez’s weekly residency during this time. There were two booths at Twilo - one which was built for Junior which was perched above the crowd and one for the guests which was just elevated above the floor on one end of the club. Josh would embark on a residency at Twilo during this time that became an Ovum Recordings night which allowed him to showcase many of the artists releasing on the label.

On this night the opening set was from DJ Dozia. This was also a special evening as it was the release party for Josh’s mix compilation Profound Sounds Volume 1. During this time, the label was distributed by Sony Music worldwide and this was a big event having Josh playing in the labels home city. There were various press requests including a request to film. This was quickly shut down as there was no video to be taken inside the club (How times have changed!). Josh took over the decks and at this point in the evening legendary sound man Steve Dash would open up the system. As the headliner took over, it was like the room transformed. I can still envision the circular light that sat above the dance floor as well as the huge disco ball all coming to life as the set started to build.

Well turn up the volume and prepare to dive into two hours of bliss as Mr. Josh Wink takes you on a journey showing his true musical diversity and understanding why many always called him the DJ’s DJ.

Shout out to Steve Dash, Mike Bindra, Paul Morris, Todd Horn, Izzy Monk, Neil Lawi, and everyone who was involved in this special evening and of course to all the clubbers. #Staysafe #Stayhome

Who starts a set with Stella ffs?

          A cunt, that’s who.

Dry-Tinder that Twilo mix that surfaced during lockdown was fantastic. Had it on the other day as it happens. GU should give Wink a comp and bin off Danny.

I seem to recall him “Resigning from DJing” a few years ago.

Dry-Tinder I’ve KLANGED this story to death on here so whats one more time?

I ended up partying all night with Nick Warren and Andy Horseface during a release party for one of Nick’s 50 GU installments. Someone in their entourage spotted my kitchen sink and asked if I wanted to hangout with the DJ. Long story short, at some point in the night I told Andy that Wink should get a GU. He told me they very nearly did one the year before. Supposedly when Wink was putting out Profound Sounds V3 he was looking for a UK and European label for distribution. According to Andy they approached him for it, but under the condition that it wouldn’t be called Profound Sounds. Wink wouldn’t agree so the release ended up being Profound Sounds V3 in America and Ministry Of Sound Ovum Session is the UK and Europe. Could be BS but seems pretty plausible.

Is this some kind of Psy-Op, Z?

Tenaglia was great at Bedrock, though it did feel a bit strange him dropping Angry Skies near the end after what he’d played before

Promoter eyes your stash of Chips Butty™ from across the room and is dazzled enough to want to be friends for the evening?

                  I wasn’t always a bag fumbling loser!

I’ve see DT many times and he has always played whatever he wanted without any real rhyme or reason.

It was in print in a mixmag or DJ Mag I’ve still got it somewhere. Sasha interview. Doubt he’d have said it if it weren’t true.

Cankles-McJeggings lol no shit? Good on DT then. I will say it always seemed to be John playing Danny’s records and inviting him to his parties.

zackster I’ve only seen him twice admittedly (Bedrock and Home), but it stuck out as a ‘really?’ moment when he played it. To be fair, I had a similar moment with Digweed around that time at Bedrock when he played ‘Bullet in the gun’. Every DJ has one. DT was great up to that point though.
