  • GU 45 - Danny Tenaglia - Brooklyn

Dry-Tinder I did like cd1 of his Balance though so I was kind of hoping this might be similar

On the flip, Saiz’s balance is somewhat better than I expected.

4 months later

I was finally able to listen to this.

I thought Disc 1 was pretty inoffensive - which is better than I was expecting tbh. The DT & Cevin Fisher track was surprisingly decent and there’s nothing as egregious as say ‘In and Out of My Life’ on there. It’s generally too “funky house” for my tastes, but it grooves along alright and it at least very vaguely sounds recognisably Tenaglia (in his housier mode).

Disc 2 however turned out to be the kind of thing I was dreading from him - mostly just dull as dishwater, plodding “melodic techno” type crap. The Jay Lumen and Developer tracks were the only time my ears perked up a bit. The vast majority of the rest seemed the kind of generic bilge that anybody in that sphere could have put out.

Fair play Hugo, along with @SM001 , @alistair and @Wasily, you’re putting some serious commitment in and actually giving a whirl stuff that should be left in the proverbial wrapper!

    Prog soldiers 🫡

Mad_Cyril actually giving a whirl stuff that should be left in the proverbial wrapper!

but but but - it has a Digweed & Muir track on it… (which is rubbish)

hugopal Agree with this. CD1 is a decent listen but CD2 is utterly forgettable

Does anyone actually buy these kind of mixes any more? Let alone a fucking Danny Tenaglia mix. Talk about jumping the shark.

Millsy Does anyone actually buy these kind of mixes any more?

No idea, I just listened to it on youtube.

Millsy I actually bought Voorn’s GU on CD. I remember liking it upon release, but could not now name one track on it.

James Lavelle’s Bushtucker GU is mint.

Millsy Dare I suggest they sell enough to justify releasing another one? Thought you were a serious business man Millsy?

Wally yes I imagine that might be the case, Elon. My point being, there are an infinite amount of way better mixes released almost hourly on SoundCloud etc al.

Millsy …it’s odd, but there’s def a market there. Danny superfans I guess
