  • Fatboy Slim Big Beach Boutique Documentary

Not sure if anyone has seen this. It’s pretty good. I remember it being a pretty full on day.

I did Leeds Love Parade and Big Beach Boutique. Leeds was definitely less hectic

benson It was a Fatboy Slim advertorial. Diggers didn’t even get a mention.

Yeah but lots of focus on how it got out of hand. I met loads of people from the old bedrock board that night. Went back to my Dads in kemptown and got woken up after about 3 hours sleep with him telling me 5 people had died.

It is a shame there is no mention of John. He appears for about 3 seconds

They even interviewed Begg and Frost, I’m pretty sure Digweed’s not in it by his choice.

Homegrove I wonder why, he used to post about it on social media… there’s a fairly iconic back shot of him behind the decks that does the rounds as well.

It featured on the vid for Emerald back in the day.

Smallman1 Not exactly hard, as the only competition was Fatboy Slim, and the Midfield General. Cut of Life, Dark & Long, Rez, we’ve got all of your favourites here kiddies.😂 That gig feels like the Sex Pistols Manchester gig, where many claimed to have been there, but not many were.

I’m not sure there has ever been a worse big name DJ than Fatboy Slim. Total blagger

Smallman1 There was a Tyrant night there the night before though. I remember the Friday night, a friend of mine took a photo of me doing a line of Bronson. After, she had it printed, it sat in an album o on the coffee table in her living room. I wonder if it is still there😂

alistair Fatboy Slim was the sole reason Woodstock 99 went off the rails. It was all flowers and reefer until he showed up and dropped the needle on Praise You. Someone was immediately raped in an ambulance and the whole festival got burned down. That’s how bad he is.

Smallman1 I was thinking of groove armada the year before. As you were. Carry on.

LT42 That documentary is also very good. Bro culture on a disused airfield in 50 degree C heat. what could go wrong

benson a lot of fucked up American Emo’s going off there rocker after getting completely ripped off!

alistair Everybody Needs a 303 is fucking brilliant album - saw him at Reading in 98 and he was mustard. Absolute fucking shite at Glastonbury mind.

benson yeah its an ominous watch. Part of me wishes I was there full of bangers and on the factor 50. The doc only scratches the surface on the debauchery.

LT42 I was there, front and centre. Diggers was excellent - I was lost in the world on bangers after that. We’d parked the car at a station before and couldn’t get on a train to Brighton, but got on one from Hove - went straight to the front after walking down from there. On the way back, it was pandemonium at the station and we were off our chops, but some fella pulled up and said Taxi? We said how much to wherever and he said hopefully, £20? Done. Home by 1am.

Went to buy a paper the next day and saw the extent of it all - had no idea at the the time

Seen Fatboy Slim twice , both times in Ibiza. Had the place rocking each time. He’s just a novelty/party dj isn’t he….Good for an hour or two and gets the ladies dancing

That whole ‘Big beat’ thing. What an embarrassing time for all concerned. Fatboy Slim was basically a midlife crisis in a Hawaiian shirt. No wonder grant LOVES him.

                    Shite

Haha I gotta say I’m with you here. Absolute bilge .
The only thing he’s ever done worth while was ditch that annoying cunt Zoe Ball.

                    His finest moment.

This is the only track I’ve ever liked of his.

Not 94 either so whoever uploaded this is clueless.

unplugged is still my favorite sasha mix. remember buying it from the Can in Chelmsford and was cellophaned wrap

Dan they did have some. I got sasha and digweed Bangkok double pack from there. The problem was Al who worked on the house side used to go to renaissance a lot, so he would filter them all out rather than going on sale. Andys record was always good for all the boxed tapes

Christian I only ever spent time in the either side of the shop buying old hardcore stuff on vinyl. Loved that place when I was 16-18

RichM i started off on the hardcore side but moved to the house side after listening to a local dj called steve reynolds

Christian Al was a top bloke… What the hell happened to him? I did a few stint in that side… Proper good laugh.

Dan he was best mates with rolo from grange hill. went to oscars with him a few times as they made he monthly resident in the front room. He just disappeared one day and never come back. quite a few people ended up covering that side of the store and i even done a stint for a day
