Some line up on that Bill Burr presents Friends Who Kill that’s on Netflix today. He closes it, with Dave Attell, Michelle Wolf, Jessica Kirson and Jimmy Carr going before him. And a few others. Just shame that with a running time of 70 minutes they each get about 10 minutes. Burr has already shot a full special, he just is not ready to lose the material yet because he’s got a full touring special. Kudos for him not being like Jimmy Carr. Saw him a week after his first Netflix-special. And he did nothing but that. Usually comedians are expected to retire the material once the special is out.

Homegrove This was the first “collective” special that I really enjoyed. Felt Ronnie Chieng was wasted but otherwise loved all the sets. Steph Tolev was insane and hilarious, and I loved that Michelle Wolf played it like a female version of Burr, going at white women mercilessly. The token black guy was great as well.

Homegrove The one time I saw Dave Chappelle in 2002, he did a few original bits about Orange County (where my college was) at the start, but most of it was Killing Them Softly, which released in 2000.

That Bill Burr Netflix is a Joke-special was just bad all around. Burr’s disease blankets, and Michelle Wolf’s white women twerking were the only things I really laughed at. Even Dave Attel was not funny.

    Homegrove Dave Attell

Saw him once. He was hilarious. Seems like one of those guys who knows how to work a room. Not sure how well that translates to television.

Had an old roomie who worked at Cobbs, the biggest comedy club in SF. She used to get us in all the time and I saw pretty much all the big acts for a while there. Most unexpectedly hilarious comedian? Sinbad. That dude was incredible.

benson yeah same here, Bens. I actually fell asleep. I’m starting to tire of the comedic style where they just rant about political stuff and such and dress it up as comedy. I’ve been watching a lot of Steven Wright lately to get away from that. Just witty jokes. Back to basics.

The Pete Davidson Collective show was surprisingly good. Tight sets from mostly everyone on that bill.

As much as I hate to say it, the first 15 mins of the Bob Saget memorial show was a train wreck. Things get a bit awkward when Jeff Ross says “boy he loved his cocaine”. lol. Couldn’t go any further, it was painful.

      Niiice. Looking forward to that.

The Jon Stewart Mark Twain award show is up on YouTube, funny and poignant. Like that Chappelle talked about how he was the only credible news source post-911 and during the Iraq War, reminded me that I only watched the daily show for news during my college days in the states.

I gave Jin Breuer a chance and he’s an utter wanker.

Thank fuck Bill Burr can still deliver. Live at the Red Rocks was great. I was worried when I read that topics were cancel culture, wokeness and feminism, but instead of bitching that it’s not the old days anymore he was actually making good points.

Nick Mullins is by far my fav comic going. I am so happy he is back on the road.

Needs to work on his Vincent Van Gogh pronunciation, here you go -

Loved the Bill Burr special, his diatribe on why women’s sports doesn’t get enough pay almost brought a tear to my eye. Truth.

That argument didn’t go down well with my woke uncle from NYC at dinner a couple of days back. Neither did my, “when I watch women’s sports it feels like it’s in slow motion” line. Tbf to him, he did start ripping on gender fluidity/identity and the pronoun people.

        Women are people too, Rhouses.

I thought Afterlife was brilliant, not many shows can do humour and sadness at the same time.

RichM agreed. I like Stewart Lee but it’s a little pompous to trash Gervais here.

Rosebud Baker is one to keep an eye out for. This is brilliant.

I watched Stewart Lee’s Snowflake show last week. It’s quite funny in places. He does rip into Gervais & all those comedians who reckon they’ve been cancelled but then do a show on Netflix which earns them millions.

LT42 yeah, agreed. I know Gervais is marmite but that just smacks of professional jealousy.

Plus I don’t rate Stewart Lee’s delivery. Always been mreh to me.

              Millsy I don’t rate Stewart Lee’s delivery

Gervais literally laughs at his own jokes so the audience knows when to laugh.

Amps so does Kevin Bridges. He’s brilliant. What’s your point?

                • Amps replied to this.

Millsy Bridges is a million times better than Gervais, he can laugh whenever he likes.

Along_the_Wire yes I enjoy both Gervais and Stewart Lee.

Although sadly Stewart Lee has disappeared up his own rectum in the last few years; it’s probably the effect of having spent too long writing a column for the Guardian.

His latest ‘Snowflake’ special still had funny moments, but also a lot of it fell flat.

Gervais gets a pass for The Office, Golden Globes and the podcasts with him, Merchant and Pilkington. All absolutely brilliant. Lee just comes across as green eyed and bitter while clearly getting a Brydon belly rub. Wince.

Millsy the podcasts with him, Merchant and Pilkington

I’ll binge listen to these once a year. Pilkington is a joy.

I remember once reading that Stuart Lee was a comedian. Funniest thing about him.

He’s got absolutely nothing about him to even talk about Gervais. File under no mark cunt
