Stand Up comedy
Burr.
Karl Pilkington is the least funny person who people inexplicably find funny.
Sort of a real life Millsy.
Ouch.
Rhouses is the board’s Phill Jupitus.
Make of that what you will.
Millsy Gervais gets a pass for The Office, Golden Globes and the podcasts with him, Merchant and Pilkington. All absolutely brilliant. Lee just comes across as green eyed and bitter while clearly getting a Brydon belly rub. Wince.
I agree with you on the above except for the jealousy. Afterlife aside from Joe Wilkinson , was fairly poor imo so i can understand why he questions its success.
A fat prick?
Defamation. You’ll be hearing from my solicitor. Good day!
Good day to you, sir!
LOL, how utterly predictable that 2022 Millsy would favour Gervais over Lee.
Indicative of the declining standards that will keep Millsy hovering outside the top 3 for the foreseeable…
That’s harsh, your Christmas recipes are invariably a tour de force
He’s spot on about Game of Thrones, though
I don’t find him particularly funny but he’s very observant and that’s amusing in itself. Lee not Mills.
Gervais’ standup is horrifically bad, but his shows are great. I kinda agree that Afterlife is weak and maybe missed the mark, but you just cannot deny the quality of Extras and The Office.
Introducing Pilkington to the world, also genius imo. Definitely not an evergreen comedic character, but for the two to three years that he was an enigmatic sensation, I found a lot of the stuff hilarious. That travel show was great, made sure the cinematography was top notch to go with the laughs.
I gave Stewart Lee (and even Herring) a honest go, mostly because they were highly recommended on here a couple of years ago. watched and listened to a ton of their stuff, but got exhausted with the pretentious af tone. Funny in doses and but there’s only so much time you can give someone constantly talking down at you.
Cankles-McJeggings I don’t find him particularly funny but he’s very observant and that’s amusing in itself. Lee not Mills.
Lol!
Have seen Lee twice live.
Hit and miss and he’s a right smug bastard.
If you like dark humor she is worth checking out. I think she’s got 20 or 30 minutes in Netflix, and there’s a lot of clips in Youtube.
More like “Hit and miss and he’s a right chug bastard”
Oi oi!
Stewart Lee is an absolute hero.
bosstrabs spoken down to might have been a bit hard on Lee, the “I’m fuckin correct, and you’re all wrong” is where he tends to lose me. He’s funny, there is no doubt, but it’s mostly too self righteous in a very smug way. It’s been happening with Chappelle lately too. I prefer there to be a bit of self deprecation with my comedy.
Nick Mullins continues to be the funniest thing going imo.
Ohh look at me, I’m Sean Rhouses with massive uncut toenails that look like horns and I like dropping massive greasy shits in the pan and not bothering to flush, yet get totally offended by the theatrics of a stand up comic who thinks he’s right about everything
Lol

rhouses but it’s mostly too self righteous in a very smug way
I’ve only found him to be that way in the last few years. Basically since he started writing for the Guardian.
Up to and including his Carpet Remnant World show and the last series of his Comedy Vehicle he was great, and a lot of the things he got himself in a huff about were daft or random, as opposed to overtly political.
He’s also tended to have quite a strong self-deprecating streak as well which if anything has been more prominent than his egotism, and if anything makes a lot of any potentially perceived smugness seem sarcastic. One only needs to observe the jokes he makes about himself along the lines of “oh look, Terry Christian’s let himself go” and “oh look, Morrissey’s let himself go”, and the fact he titled one of his shows about being named the ‘41st best stand up ever’.
I also just wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of it flies over your head.
Just watched Snowflake and Tornado on the iPlayer, liked them both.
Phil-McRackin
Only seen Snowflake. Thought it was good in places. I’ll give tornado a whirl next.
I watched Bill Bur: Friends who kill and laughed real hard during Steph Tolev’s bit.
A crying shame to see Stuart Lee’s name so many times in a thread about comedy. What a shit-show
Especially when nobody has mentioned Cannon & Ball or Bernie Clifton
