Very sad to hear Peter Straub has passed. Best known to an average reader as the guy who wrote The Talisman and Black House with Stephen King (they talked about a third one together ever since The Black House was published, but sadly that will now not happen), he was a wonderful horror writer on his own. Here’s his top three (in my opinion) if you want some awesome horror to read during the spooky season:
If You Could See Me Now (probably my favorite book to use the unreliable narrator-trope)
Ghost Story (his best book)
Lost Boy Lost Girl (the youth vernaculars are horrible, but otherwise it’s my most reread book of his).
