There should be a vaccine passport for going abroad. There shouldn’t be one for going to the pub/shops in the UK.
There is no way you can shut out of society a significant number of people with disabilities/medical exemptions or even the large number of BAME that won’t take one. I also remain to be convinced about children being vaccinated until we know more. I wasn’t a fan of ID cards when they were first mooted either for civil liberties reasons.

alistair There should be a vaccine passport for going abroad. Period.

As previously pointed out that may not even be the UK’s choice.

Thailand (for example), may unilaterally decide they are shutting out the unvaccinated. Their tourist income takes a hit, but not that much as they’re popular with all sorts of tourists anyway, from the moneyed Chinese to the British family to the Scandi backpacker who looks like Erling Haaland in search of ‘crazy party girlssh’. All of whom would rather enjoy themselves in a COVID-free pleasureland. Not advocating that, but you can see such things happening.

There should be an armband for everyone that shows whether they’ve been vaccinated, whether they voted leave or remain, and their overall bantz score so you can gauge how you approach conversation. It’s the only way we can get back to the NEW NORMAL imo.

Bantz score must be dynamically updating, which is more than possible with current tech.

Like if you just walked away from a total gammon with no bants except ‘Paki jokes’ you can hit him with a 2-star rating as soon as he walks out the boozer.

(he does get a couple of stars because his ‘Did you hear about the Pakistani opticians that burned down? Asif Eyecare’ joke was at least good)

bosstrabs lol. Could legit be an episode of Black Mirror. Also, I hope JC rankings/lolpp counts will blend in to this new approach.

bosstrabs long-term it might not be a good idea for a country like Thailand to unilaterally require covid passports, as you say it could massively hit their tourist income. They might allow people from wealthy countries where it is perceived to be under control to arrive with little issue, but restrict entry from places that are still hotspots.

It might not stop a government wanting to prevent its citizens from traveling to Thailand though.

The whole thing could get very messy and lead to some contentious political negotiations.

hugopal I hear you. I’ve got splinters in my arse for this one. On the one hand I just can’t see it, but then I think of how the Eaton cabal tried to prorogue parliament and the like and it all seems quite feasible.

          Amps Eaton

Although Matt Hancock is from Chester (not sure if Eaton though), I think ‘Eton’ is where are all the rest of the pricks went.

Need to bin the stocks and shares and invest in the Tory party. Great returns.

Amps the serco ceo on radio 4 was properly evasive. Came across as a proper horrible human being

The state of this. Miliband, Disraeli, Howard. What do they have in common? Still got the blind spot

Tories, as usual, see no value in anything, other than it’s cash value.
