fuck politics
No, this is a big part of the problem. An electorate that disengages from political discussion and thought, steering us towards another clusterfuck like Johnson.
Johnson was someone that was known throughout his career as a liar, someone incompetent and better known for being a Poundland celebrity rather than his political integrity. The Tories elected him because they saw that his clownish, loveable rogue image would be a vote winner. They were right, exactly because too many voters couldn’t read the situation, were taken in by the image and were unable to read between the lines. It opened the door to Brexit, rampant corruption, sleaze, populism, normalising lies and cover-ups on an epic scale. It assisted in convincing a country to vote against its own interests as well as increasing the divide between the rich and poor and enabling a right wing media to spread propaganda to a population that have been put to sleep. This is why we are in this situation now because it had to get this bad and this in people’s faces to do anything about it.
So, let’s not fuck politics off. We need more people who do engage with it and think about it if we want to avert getting Johnson v2.0.
