Along_the_Wire I actually still quite like their output up until London Calling (i.e. their proper punk phase).
London Calling, the song itself, is an absolute din too.

A slow start to this thread but I tell you what, it is all guns blazing now!
Nevermind is not overrated but it does somewhat suffer from its first half being so much better than its second. The first six tracks from Teen spirit to Polly are as good as any. As a whole album, I prefer In Utero which is brilliant and in All Apologies has one of the best album closers
bosstrabs Meat Puppets should get talked about more in this vein too
Haha that’s exactly what you do. Delusion personified.
whatever Anything by The Who.
Tell you what is or at least was overrated by these. Tommy. ‘The first rock opera’. You don’t hear much about it nowadays but it always used to appear in the top 50 albums of all time. It’s absolutely fucking shite. Some of the song are just puerile nonsense. Plus Townsend is almost certainly in need of the nonce hammer but somehow escaped.
‘Nonce hammer’ gets a lol though.
Also overrated: Cheap Trick. One truly great song and a good live album (Live at Budokan), but it’s not that good (some Yanks seem to think it’s amazing).
Sugar - Copper Blue, another quite boring supposed ‘gem’ of the same hideously named genre, ‘power-pop’.
ScottBailey I have no joke on cd.
Along_the_Wire
Rubbish.
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. Well produced and some catchy pop, but never understood how it consistantly ranks so high in “best albums of all time” lists.
mono-stereo ooh no Mono!
U2 - War
REM - Out of Time
Both albums sold on a couple of great tracks
mono-stereo Palestine
Dry-Tinder Both albums sold on a couple of great tracks
In the case of Out of Time, the singles (Radio Song, Shiny Happy People, Losing My Religion) all give me a fucking headache.
I want to change my vote, Out of Time is an absolutely dogshit album.
New Adventures in Hi-fi and Document are REM’s best.
zackster Isn’t this the title of Ed and Zack’s big night in.
Not sure its overrated. It sold millions but I don’t know any REM fan who places it among their best. Murmur however…
