Wallpapering is a different thing entirely I’ve hung wallpapers that cost hundreds of pounds per roll to paper that’s £10 per roll. One mistake and it could cost you replacing the whole lot.

I would love to DIY the fuck out of my Bose Acoustimass Subwoofer. Fucking hell it’s been a massive headache since moving. And looks like it’s going to cost me $250 to fix. :/

Had the benefit of my dad being a builder who can do anything and everything. I’m pretty handy at small DIY tasks and quite good at painting. Couldn’t pay anyone to paint my own house.

I’m quite good at painting. The important bit is the prep, washing the walls etc.

I tried to plane a door the other week. How hard can it be, I thought. I ended up breaking the plane and making an absolute abortion of it. 😅

The key is knowing your limits.

I once knew of a house share in Manchester back in the day which was inhabited with some lovely ladies who worked as nurses. Every once in a while they would pop some bangers and ‘spring clean’ the house from top to bottom!

Not sure how effective it was but they reckon it worked 😂

These same girls would head straight into work after an all nighter and take a hit of adrenaline to smash out a 12 hour shift.

Nice to know your are in safe hands on an ICU ward!

I had a few builders in to quote some work recently. I always ask for examples of previous projects. I said I needed my back door adjusted and some piledriving (in preparation for fencingl and two of them gladly gave me the addresses of previous customers. The third, a burly bloke named Darren, simply opened the locket around his neck to reveal a photo of Ed.

Millsy Mate of mine who lives in London, has been in Bangalore since March. Had to sublet his apartment over there for a couple of months while he’s here… one of his neighbours living below complained there was a leak coming through the roof from my mate’s apartment bathroom. Not being in London, he immediately called up plumbers to sort it out. After doing a recce they tell him they need to rip out the whole bathroom and retile everything… quoting 5000 pounds. Freaked out and called another neighbour of his who is a bit of a handy man, all it took to fix the issue was tightening a few pipes.

Couldn’t help but think of Smalls when I he told me the story, for some reason.

A few weeks ago I priced a job at for a lady. It’s a nice big house in a very nice area. My price was just under £2000 plus materials. She had another quote from somebody else for £4500. If you’re going to get any work done by any tradesman make sure you get a few quotes.

The quotes for my roof ranged from £10k to £4k.

Went with the £4k option, obvs.
