Twin Peaks: Season Three was the best thing I’ve watched in the last ten years, but the kind of 2001 Space Oddysey-esque, and mostly black-and-white Episode 8 fits the description for me (at least the ridiculous part, not the shit part).
I know many it was lauded by many as a stand-out and a “masterpiece”, but I found it often tedious and absurd, and lacking in narrative. It threatened to (but thankfully didn’t entirely) detract from and derail the rest of the magnificent series. It’d also probably provide plenty of ammunition to those who fail to enjoy Lynch’s work and see it as too weird and confusing.
