zackster Some dude necked me whole bag and I spent the night stone sober!

You were doing so well until you tried to tell us you’d a bag of gear, mate. Fairy tale ruined!

hugopal downvote for Ed for posting something where I have to agree with Hugo. Its a horrific video that in no way captures what that place was for me

Still chuckling at the bantz on that web page this morning.

Weird site though

Mr C must have made an absolute mint out of house culture. The Shamen were shifting serious numbers when artists actually made money from record sales, plus from what i’ve read he only sold The End as the offer was off the charts. I believe he actually owned the site rather than long leased.

I’d assumed they owned it, but a quick Google gives the impression that they were incentivised to break their lease so the landlord could redevelop.

That Layos dad as the architect found the property and designed the space. Mr C put up a good proportion of the upfront costs from his shaman cash.

I heard Russian property tycoons bought it for wedge. They were not forced sellers and only sold as the bid was off the scale. Fair play.

Cant say i’ve ever liked a Mr C mix/ avoided him like the plague when I was going out all the time. Same with Carl Cox. Never got that either

Did amuse me that the place was sold to be converted into flats, and then someone else opened it up as The Den for a while.

It was a great club, definitely didn’t go there enough. Saw a couple of cracking Laurent Garnier sets down there

RichM … I sometimes think that I should have gone to certain places more, like The End. Also away from London and the South East, but then you remember you were having a whale of a time doing what you were doing. There was just so much choice I tended to go to places my friends/I liked and felt comfortable. Gurnmills/MOS/Camden Palace plus lots of one offs and parties we put on ourselves. So spoilt for choice when I look back.

IndustryStandard agreed, also I was skint a lot when I was in my 20s,so couldn’t always afford to go out clubbing and get trashed all weekend!!

It was a brilliant club, no doubt. Agree on the absolute shambles that is that video though. Crap.

That video is honnendous tbf. Really doesn’t do the club justice at all

mono-stereo ….couldn’t even pin down what he played/plays. Bouncy Techno? Strikes me as someone I wouldn’t want to get into a forum keyboard war with. Bet he goes right off on one!

            mono-stereo

It must have been there that fadas was being mean to him. Laughing at him for going round LA air kissing his mates and wearing bacofoil kecks.

I’d entirely forgotten about it until recently, but my younger sis and a friend of hers used to do flyering for The End for a while, and as a consequence she spoke to Mr C a fair bit. He sounded like a decent enough bloke from what she said about him; rather gregarious as you’d expect.

Had I been more aware of what her job involved at the time I’d have asked her to pass on one of my mixes to him and try to sort me out with a gig. Oh well.
