Is there a pool involved? Curious what he’s playing. He pivoted from prog to afro house as I recall.

Yeah he’s playing more funky house than anything at the moment

      erik funky house

Is a horrible term, grinds my gears.

That aside i remember Nass getting a bit of stick for it on here.

Am a form believer you play what you feel, and if that’s what he feels then more power to him 💪

It depends on my gut feeling at the time. Something changed in me between our Anthony Pappa event, becoming a father, starting microdosing. I used to look at music so systematically but now I feel my way around it through bassline, groove, attitude and the genre doesn’t count. The world’s got serious and by the time I get in front of people I want to us be in that underground space whilst cultivating some fun again. That element of surprise. Some positivity. Enjoying ourselves.

I have played funky but that’s not most of the time, its the least. Sure if I was playing in a bar or a local radio station I do what’s right in that situation for the people I’m playing to but if I had to think about what all the genres I play in clubs now its Deep Tech, Deep House, Jackin’ House, Chicago House, Tech House, Prog, Techno, Funky, Acid House, Minimal, Breaks, and more.

It all goes in the blender in my mind and comes out like a friend on their first pill at the love parade.

As for the pool, we waved goodbye to it recently - I’ve moved back to the UK and I’m just finishing setting this up. I had to buy something slightly resembling sunshine.

If any of you are at Sasha/Digweed etc at Manchester’s Balaeric event next Sunday then do come and say hello / fuck off / where is the Prog you Geordie bastard etc

Be well guys. Thanks for having me on Pete 🤜

Mad_Cyril I 100% agree with that mate. Funky house should be left for Hed Kandi cds

Music is a personal thing. Play what you love and it’ll shine through. I used to enjoy his Cyprus livestreams, something very refreshing about them

Exactly the same happened to me. It is liberating feeling like you don’t have to play standout tunes or that it needs to culminate toward a peak moment, because it is all about the groove and the whole vibe. That was what got me into the Circoloco vibe in 2004-2005 period for that reason and that’s what I came back to when I knew I couldn’t keep playing prog anymore.
