Currently trying out ‘Dividend chasing’ - Invest a stack of cash into a place the day before they work out who’s a shareholder, Get the pay out then flog the shares and keep the dividend. Apparently it’s quick popular if you just want to bump up your monthly take home a bit.
The downside being that loads of people do it so the share price may dip afterwards which can wipe out any money you made but if your patient and can wait for the stock price to recover you can make a lot so they say.
