Anyone watch the race from this weekend? Good fun it was. Throwaway season and I’ll laugh my ass off if Bottas beats Lewis this year. Though I have a feeling Lewis has some BLM fire in him and he’s going to destroy everyone. Also time to find a new driver to support with the new gen stepping up. Lando, Albon, Max, LeClerc - all killer. Russel seems like he deserves a better car.

Half funny half surreal to see the drivers gasping for air as they’re being interviewed with face masks on right after quali and the race. And even weirder knowing they’re racing the same track again this weekend. Silverstone should be fun.

Vettel deserves more!

Alonso is back next year as well to add to the mix. Never really any successful comebacks, but he has the talent.
Great to see McLaren in the mix again after having an absolute nightmare for years!

Yeah, was never a Mclaren fan because of Lewis, but it made me happy to see there’s another team seemingly in contention to take on the Merc domination.

All those safety cars and the Lewis penalties cover up how good Merc really are - they’re going to own this season again. Red Bull need to step up their game, shite reliability issues but Max looks amazing.

Used to love F1, it’s a load of old shite now. Hamilton (using first names for sportsmen is appalling, Rhouses), is a massive cunt - just look at the fucking state of him?

Hate Lewis Hamilton with a passion, but there’s no denying he’s a GOAT.

I don’t know what it is about him that makes me hate him so much. He actually has the story we should all love. A childhood full of struggle and poverty, climbed the ranks battling against privileged whites from rich families. An almost faultless rookie season, outdriving a two-time champion. The problem is it’s fucking Lewis.

Have always had a soft spot for one or other of the Brit drivers in F1 at any given time. Was an easy decision during the Mansell years, and much preferred Button to Hamilton 10 or so years ago.

Also find it difficult to ‘like’ Hamilton. There’s no doubting his greatness as a driver, but there’s a just a whiff of the fuckwit about him. The ‘boy done good’ narrative only works if you don’t turn into a prick once you done good.

Really pleased the next-gen of British drivers are coming through so well, and both Lando Norris and George Russel seem really sound.

rhouses LOL at poverty, he was brought up in Stevenage with a doting father that bought him a kart and drove home everywhere. My dad gave me a fucking thick ear.

Along_the_Wire I wouldn’t say his father was doting… more desperate, controlling and demanding. So much so Hamilton had to cut him off three years into his F1 career.

It’s an extremely risky bet putting all your eggs in one basket and that basket being a black kid who’s quick in a go-kart, in a sport where it’s pretty much 100% white. McLaren don’t get enough credit as well. Poverty is subjective though, but it’s fair to use given Hamilton was taking on kids who live in Monoco and have enough money in their family to not worry about skipping education.

rhouses Behave yourself Rhouses, his dad was dropped because he was well out of his depth. Yes, it was hard getting into F1, but it was a calculated risk by McClaren, they paid him absolutely fuck all early on and he was obviously very, very good due to his complete dominance in other formats of racing.

Growing up in Stevenage is a tough gig tbf.

Guy in my Sunday football team went to school with Lewis Hamilton in Stevenage. Said he was a normal kid but everyone knew (including himself) that he was destined for good things. Wasn’t oppressed, wasn’t poverty stricken either. Just a normal kid

He’s not had a bad life through has he. Driving fast cars with a Pussycat Doll on his arm, few hundred million in the bank too.

Season is over, no one stands a chance.

That being said, the midfield was entertaining yesterday.

I noticed Lewis in an interview after the race that he mentioned that he kept of the curbs as much as possible. They may have gearbox problems which hopefully will give them problems later on. What has happened to Ferrari. Lando Norris had a great drive yesterday so it’s good to see McLaren up there again. It’s still a big shame that Williams are again very poor even with the Mercedes engine. But your right I can’t see anybody beating Mercedes this. Just hoping it’s Bottas and not Lewis that takes the title.

Bottas looked petrified at the end of the race. He knows it’s over too.

Lando was brilliant. And it’s quite crazy that Racing Point is looking like a top 5 team. True about Williams, I’m warming up to Russell.

          2 months later

WTF has happened to Ferrari. Vettel out in Q3 & Leclerc out in Q2.
Also a sad day for the Williams family.

          • Matt replied to this.

Dubman the FIA put a stop to Ferrari cheating with their power unit at the end of last season.

The Williams situation is sad, Frank has to take the blame though. He should never have had his daughter running things, she was never up to the challenge.

              Matt
I thought she done pretty well at the start. Have you seen the Williams documentary. It’s well worth a watch if you heven’t seen it.

              • Matt replied to this.

Dubman yeah I’ve seen it, thought it was good.

They did do alright when she first took over. They came 3rd in the championship one year with massa and bottas if I remember correctly. It was all downhill from there though.

I was surprised to see them let paddy Lowe go, considering all of the knowledge he must have brought with him from Mercedes.

Hopefully they will keep the Williams name and the new owners will put up the cash needed to turn things around

I used to love F1. Boring shite now, but I reckon I can trace it all back to Yant’s shit trabs.

Must say, I am finding this season quite fascinating. The kind of shake ups that have happened are marking an end of an era. A whole new generation of drivers are taking over, so you’re still trying to suss them out - from their driving skills, to how they’re carrying themselves. The access to all the content is on another level, they’re putting out everything on YouTube for free on the f1 page… no need for a pricey subscription to some TV channel. Max is without a doubt the fastest on the grid and he’s only 20 or something and he’s straight gangster.

It might be boring with lewis and Merc dominating, but 2022 will change everything. And watching what’s happening at the midlevel is good fun.

                  rhouses
The mid level racing has been excellent this season. So good seeing Mclaren back into the fray.
Can you watch the whole race live on YouTube?

Dubman Nah not the race unfortunately, though I think they put f2 on there. Everything before and after is there, plus lots of great analysis, highlights, interviews, lots of stuff from the past in great docu-style packages. Find myself on there pretty much everyday.

                    Love Verstappen, haha.

I couldn’t get over how young these guys are after watching the doc on Netflix. Young and very cocky. Super talented little pricks basically. Ocon came across badly on it. They all hate each other and it makes for great racing.

Sainz is the man, what a driver! If Ferrari sort their shit out next season they will be a force.

One more lap and he’d of picked off Gasly yesterday. Can’t remember watching such an exciting finish for a long time

Hursty Can’t remember watching such an exciting finish for a long time

Silverstone a few weeks back - with tyres exploding all over the gaff?

It will be interesting to see how the young brits get on over the next few years, Norris and Russell both have massive potential.

There’s not much to choose between Norris and Sainz, considering Sainz is the only team mate who has ever really competed with Verstappen, the future for Norris seems bright.

I reckon Russell in particular will be one to watch though, very highly thought of by Mercedes. I watched most if his races in F2 the year he won that series and there’s no doubt he’s the real deal. He’s put that Williams in places it didn’t belong a few times now and there aren’t many drivers on the grid who are capable of out performing their cars.

LT42 I couldn’t get over how young these guys are after watching the doc on Netflix.

                        Which doc is this Liqui?

                        • LT42 replied to this.

Smallman1 Not sure the title of it. Type Formula 1 into the search and you’ll find it, 2 seasons. It’s top quality. The episode about the race in Singapore is unreal. 40 degrees inside the car and trying to navigate that tight track at those speeds, I’ve so much respect for them. The concentration levels are off the charts.

That’s the one. Great viewing. Even if you don’t like the sport.

LT42 They’re spoilt rich kids in the main. There must be thousands of better drivers than these cunts in the world, but they’ll never get near it.

                          • LT42 replied to this.

Along_the_Wire I dunno about that. From what I’d take from it you’d do well to find better drivers than them. They have to produce or they go back to F2 and F3.

Agree about them being spoiled rich kids in the main but they’re incredibly gifted at what they do.
