NasserAlazzawi has Interface 2 been dropped too? Mate said his stopped working without a subscription now.
Rekordbox 7 Thread (for DJs)
If you have a library created on RB7 and you export your playlists/WAVs/ backup to an external drive, can you hook it up to a laptop using RB6 and you can access the playlists/content on the hard drive? IE. sync between the two.
IndustryStandard Yeah thats the saving grace. You don’t have to do anything there is just one library for 6 and 7 automatically.

Homegrove It says on the above Compatibility Chart it unlocks DVS but it does not unlock Performance Mode. Is that what he means?
Actually - I’ve just had a look at the older Wayback Machine thing in my post and it does appear RB6 let it unlock performance mode.
So for him to use RB7, he needs a Hardware unlock Mixer in the middle, or a hardware unlock controller.
I don’t think many people have realised this online yet (Interface 2 isn’t very popular)
If he doesn’t have he right device in the middle, he should dial back to RB6.
NasserAlazzawi cheers. Well fuck.
Been playing around with RB7……its come a along way since my CDJ900 mk1 days !
One gripe….probably old man related…but its all a bit small and black. When in performance mode the mixer section and CDJ/Decks are very small and not that easy to read. Im using a 13.3 inch retina macbook and the Traktor GUI with the grey/white/black setup is way better/less cluttered
Any tips and tricks to make things a bit easier on the eye/de-cluttered? Ive increased the track library font that helps on track searching. Its just the whole deck/mixer/effects sections that are a hot mess…
Finally…is there a view where you can totally minimise the decks and just have the majority of the screen as track library? I will be using an XDJ XZ at the weekend so will just want to see track / playlist info on the laptop rather than jog wheels etc

When in performance mode, you should have a series of menus at the top left of the window. The menu next to performance has all the options you’ll need, including browse mode.
My advice is to bin off the laptop as soon as you can. It’s way more fun and you look like you know what you’re doing.
Agree. Pointless using an XDJ XZ if all you are going to do is use as a controller. Thought I could utilise the larger screen on my laptop for library / track management when i’m DJing, rather than the smaller screen on the XDJ. Not sure if that can be done / worth it / screen on the XZ is plenty fine
IndustryStandard I’d just stick with the XZ screen - you get used to it so quickly. I’ve got my whole collection and a ton of playlists on one of my memory sticks - it’s a doddle (warning, it works on the XZ, but playing out I’ve had problems with too many tunes on there, so always have back up)
Cheers. I can’t even find the deck play button when in Performance / Browse view, so gonna transfer to a HD/SD card and just use the XDJ.

Tap space bar
IndustryStandard better/less cluttered
Try these:
VIEW > Light / Dark mode (some people prefer the white mode)
and
Along the top are all the buttons lit up?
(Logos for Lighting, Recording, Mixer, FX, Sampler)
If many of these are selected, press them once to turn them off and it makes for a more relaxed screen with less on it.
You defo don’t need the Lighting or Sampler or FX or Mixer section as you are using an XDJ-XZ which is an “external mixer” (it is not software driven and all buttons are on the equipment)
whatever I’ve never been able to see it - looking forward to a Naz intervention here
Along_the_Wire I’ve never been able to see it
Explains a lot!
Are any of you using Rekordbox with DVS vinyl? Not been on my decks for some time, and I thought that I would give them a long overdue whirl. And first thing is that I am getting some pretty horrendous wow and flutter which happens when I start mixing in from the other turntable. I initially thought that something was up with the motors in my turntables. But when checking and playing normal (non-timecode vinyl), the track are playing as normal.
I have recalibrated the timecode vinyl in Rekordbox but to no avail.
Now, there is a caveat in that I am using Rekordbox 5.8.7. Which came free with the DJM 250 Mk2 mixer. So trying to avoid having another subscription in my life I have stuck with that.
With that said, I signed up for the 30 day trial for Rekordbox 7. All good? Nope. For some my DVS are not showing at all. No matter which options I go through. Even though it states that DVS is available during the trial, I cannot see any of the vinyl calibration options etc
So all in all a bit shite. Looking at Serato as an option. But spunking > £400 + a subscription for messing around on the decks a few hour a year does not seem to be worth it.
whatever did you sort this in the end? just seen this
Henry I am getting some pretty horrendous wow and flutter which happens when I start mixing in from the other turntable
Hey Henry, have some stuff to try to optimise your laptop for Rekordbox
- Try Preferences > Audio > BUFFER SIZE (make the number slightly bigger, test it, then make it slightly bigger again and test and see if this works - this is the most likely solution)
- Also in Preferences > VIEW - WAVEFORM DRAWING “MEDIUM”
- Close CHROME and other apps and programs (especially Google Drive, Dropbox, anything that uses the CPU to sync) and only use rekordbox if you can.
- If on a Mac also go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES then SHARING and “un tick FILE SHARING” if you are not using it.
- If you have a lot of USB ports in use it might be worth using as little as possible when using DVS, as a last resort.
On DVS you will get no benefit being on RB version 6 and 7 compared with 5.8.7 and those require subscriptions unless you have RB6 DVS hardware unlock devices (4th drop down states your mixer does this).
Personally if RB6 doesn’t work I’d stick with DVS on RB5 if you had a license for it to be unlocked anyway, as you never have to pay more beyond that point and it uses less CPU than RB6 does.

Well that has saved me a pair of turntables and a trip to the local pond. Thank you!
Your first suggestion worked with a bumping up of the buffer size. Never used to be a problem before. So maybe it’s the new version of Mac OS I have since I last tried. Still some weird things happening like my cursor doesn’t highlight the track that I am pointing at. I can’t see Pioneer adding another upgrade to version 5.8.7. So it could be on its last legs.
