So whats the cheapest way to unlock performance mode on Rekordbox by buying a controller?

I want to do some practicing before I play on the XDJ-RZ im using at this party in Portugal, so my plan was to get a crappy Pioneer controller just to get used to the software. New or second hand. Any recommendations?

Other options I have are (a) just export to USB/HD and use like CDJs or (b) hook up Traktor via a 3rd party mapping and see how that goes….read some far from positive reports going down that route though.

    Hi mate, I’d buy a used DDJ-400, practise on it, and sell it on. It has all the basic features to mix with, plus your hot cues. When you set them on rekordbox during performances, if you export songs to the USB after, the hot cues go with you and appear on the big pads on the XDJ-XZ.

    DDJ-400 unlocks performance mode.

      I connected my XDJ-XZ last night to rekordbox 7.01 (in Export Mode) and a button popped up asking if I wanted to register the product for hardware unlock. This didn’t happen on 7.0 so it looks like they’ve simplified HW unlock with a detection / OK button!

          Anybody else experiencing the tracks clipping (I don’t mean distorting, sort of like buffering) while playing in export-mode? I listen to everything I buy in Rekordbox in export-mode, and it’s driving me nuts. Sure the laptop is old, but this only started with 7.0. Same with the latest update.

            Homegrove I’m not getting that but if I listen to anything on Bluetooth earphones its horrible. I’m currently organising my collection on 6.7.5 as I like to use my earbuds for that.

            Actually come to think of it, I did get stuttering when I had the following happening

            1. Imported new music
            2. It was analyising the music
            3. I was previewing some music whilst the above was happening.

            It stopped after that. RB6 doesn’t have this issue, they will fix it.

                NasserAlazzawi hope they do. My old laptops (music and regular use) are both still working great, but I hope to get another year out of both. Will have to replace both when Windows 10 support stops in October of 2025. Neither of mine are eligble for an upgrade due to their age.

                  Also try this:

                  1. Preferences, View - Waveform drawing rate = MEDIUM
                  2. Try and listen to music whilst tracks are not importing, and other tabs are closed
                  3. Close Google drive and dropbox too - they can really affect Rekordbox if they are analyising/syncing new files - RB7 caused it to re-upload a lot of the mp3/wavs it was coming across presumably because it was writing new metadata into the ID3 tag - this may be a big clue!)

                            Pleased to say the rekordbox team have fixed a lot in one go with RB7, and released 7.0.2 today.

                            Some of you have been showing them where bugs are on the different windows/mac / pioneer hardware types. I also showed them the one in bold below - I think @Unbroken1 may be able to claim the Reordering of Tracks bug.

                            All the fixes are listed below!

                            • SoundCloud playlists only showed up to 100 tracks.
                            • Incorrect sample rate settings when using Bluetooth audio devices.
                            • The keyboard shortcut [Search in the collection] didn’t work properly.
                            • Pressing SHIFT+ENTER in the comment of the track information screen didn’t result in a line break.
                            • Some fixture channels didn’t work properly in Lighting function.
                            • Occasionally, reordering of tracks in playlists didn’t work properly.

                            • Unable to display scenes on the LIGHTING mode’s Macro Editor screen.
                            • Potential crash when sorting items in Column View.

                            • Occasionally, the settings for the [Vinyl Speed Adjust] in [Preferences] weren’t reflected correctly.
                            • The TEMPO slider on the DDJ-REV7 didn’t change the track tempo correctly.
                            • Improved stability and fixes for other minor issues.
