  • Rekordbox 7 Thread (for DJs)

Well that has saved me a pair of turntables and a trip to the local pond. Thank you!
Your first suggestion worked with a bumping up of the buffer size. Never used to be a problem before. So maybe it’s the new version of Mac OS I have since I last tried. Still some weird things happening like my cursor doesn’t highlight the track that I am pointing at. I can’t see Pioneer adding another upgrade to version 5.8.7. So it could be on its last legs.

Anyone struggling with bugs on RB7, the new version has just been released.

I want to like RB7 (and do like some of it) but I’m still hanging back on 6.8.5 for public performances until I’m sure the kinks are out.

This may be a step in the right direction.

Wasily Aside from being a slave driver, due to issues I had with live streams in 2020/2021 I had to learn all the reasons Rekordbox trips itself over and what to do to prevent them.

Henry only needed the first one in the list for it to fix his sound problem so my desires for serious slaveridge were not met in the end.

DVS does often require fuckery (regardless of software) but it really feels like / acts like you’re DJing with vinyl when you crack it and RB7 cancelling hardware unlocks that work in RB6 has annoyed me somewhat.

Along_the_Wire No automixing. DVS is really cool cos you mix your MP3/wavs on vinyl using timecode. Feels better than mixing on CDJ / jogwheels but its more faffy to get right. Most professional DJs try it and shy away from it but some stick to it.

As far as I know, DVS only works with a laptop attached on current tech. It doesn’t feel like it, however, as on the XDJ-XZ and other equipment, you can just use the main equipment’s screen and have the laptop far off to the side. You don’t need to stare at a laptop it just helps decode the vinyl ‘timecode’.

I’m surprised it hasn’t taken off more as its an interesting concept, but I think its because too much can go wrong on a live performance if you choose to do it (touring different events and festivals would be inherent with risk / testing needed unlike just using CDJs or even normal vinyl) and you defo need a backup plan.

Is it me or do RB updates take absolutely ages to download.

I don’t have any issues with Engine Prime nor Traktor. RB is an absolute pain…… 7.1 DL has been going for about 30 mins so far

I don’t suppose anyone has an old copy for Mac 10.6? High Sierra? Tried to play back to back on my mates controller and without it being processed it just would play tracks? I’m pretty sure it’ll start doing the same on 1000’s next time.

Dan without rekordbox all you’ll get is the waveform in real time as the track plays

Might have a work around by using the Recordbox App (pretty fiddly tbf) and then exporting the quantized/loop edited tracks onto a formatted USB stick.

              This is Strudders signing off!

              Here’s a workaround chaps

              🚮

              ScottBailey …took about 90 mins. Painful ….

Plus another thing i’ve noticed. When you import an Itunes playlist into your Rekordbox collection, it doesn’t auto sync if you add additional tracks into the Itunes playlist at a later date.

When you open up Rekordbox post adding the track in Itunes it picks up the new track and adds it to your collection, but doesn’t sync to the Rekordbox Playlist of the same name. You seem to have one shot at syncing the Itunes playlist to Rekordbox. May as well not bother and just use the Itunes library pane in Rekordbox, then just export that to an external device.
