Rekordbox 7 Thread (for DJs)
Mad_Cyril I could be wrong here but if you’re using mixed in Key, rekordbox 5 onwards has an inbuilt way of doing this.
hi mate
I have limited laptop knowledge but if running on a budget for rekordbox you could get one of these for windows
I own both. The screen on the Macbook is far better and brighter. Should do you for another 3-5 years yet.
If not choosing those just make sure they 1) have an SSD and 2) have 16gb or more of RAM.
(They will run on 8gb but we’re entering territory with software now where thats pushing it)
NasserAlazzawi another 5 years out of a 10 year old mac?
well worth that

I’m a Denon man @NasserAlazzawi
Just the SC6000’s and my mixer. All sorted now I wrote down what order to do stuff in
erik yeah, i’ve seen rekordbox still working on 2009 macs. Can’t be certain but I think I saw someone said a 2008 one worked too.
The 2015 models are handy / were ahead of their time but others were too. Eventually you stop getting OSX upgrades but Rekordbox want everyone on the software as much as poss so they do tend to make the software work way way back.
NasserAlazzawi I might do that, i store all my music on external hard drives so be nice to have a dedicated laptop for rekordbox
Mad_Cyril …it def has its uses, just not a necessary process for every file.
Personally, if something sounds at a noticeably low level relative to other tracks, I might give it a PN pass, but tbh it’s pretty rare with newly sourced stuff. If it offers to ‘repair clipped peaks’ or whatever, I don’t bother (I figure they are in the main, as they are intended to be).
If you leave ‘Audio View’ on, you can generally see straight away if something needs boosted or not.
Today I’m having a mad problem with Rekordbox where it won’t open and just hangs… until I close whichever browser I’m using. Safari or Chrome. Weird
NasserAlazzawi I’ve had a few issues with 7. Failing to open and screen freezes.
My biggest issue is the media browser. It seems you can’t have your collection, playlists, related tracks.. etc all visible at the same time (as you can with 6). Makes adding files to playlists a bit of a fuck on.
- Edited
Matt there’s a button above ‘collection’ which then opens up another window below - you can have collection there and browse playlists etc above. I prefer the new function
Unbroken1 Playlist renumbering works fine my end - had to do it a couple of times the first time round though, but worked fine after that
Unbroken1 be sure to drop them a line as they’ll get it sorted in future releases if people tell them - https://rekordbox.com/en/support/contact/ I’ve fired off a couple of other smaller bugs too.
Along_the_Wire …cheers will check that. Still having issues with the renumbering though, I like to be able to flip the list, ie. invert the order, then renumber the new configuration into ascending order, reversing the playlist numbering (if that makes sense!?). I can invert the order, but the option to renumber then disappears (for me anyway!).
NasserAlazzawi …they’ve always been notoriously poor/slow at implementing recommendations though, when you google an issue, 9 times out of 10 it links to loads of people querying the same thing with no resolution. Hoping AlphaTheta are significantly better than Pio in that respect.
NasserAlazzawi thanks mate ….I have a MacBook but it’s been banned by work for personal stuff….I think I just need to get another one ….RB won’t work in the same way on an iPad so OSX it is ….thanks for the tips
