Rekordbox 7 Thread (for DJs)
Both gigs went fine technically (not checked the recording for Sat yet). Friday played with an USB-stick on XDJ1000s, Saturday with my XDJ700s on a laptop with Rekordbox DJ. Both times with the version 7.0.
Lol!
Sounds horrific!
Mad_Cyril …just feels overkill for all tracks, in many cases you’ll be degrading a decent mastered file unnecessarily.
Personally only ever use it on older/ripped stuff to make it sound better alongside new music, or if PN flags levels as being particularly low… also find its useful for putting early renders of productions through so I can get a listenable version for the car/headphones.

ok stupid question - the fascists at work have banned me from using my work laptop to run Rekordbox which I use to make my playlists etc which I then export onto a USB which I then stick into the CDJ - easy. but can I do the same thing running RB on an iPad with a USB connector or do I need to get another effing laptop. ta b
Unbroken1 Agreed @Mad_Cyril I don’t use it at all but it’s designed to balance the odd track, not the entire collection
Not sure I’d detect whether or not a track needs it, so usually find easier to bung them through when I buy.
Premastering if you like?
Mad_Cyril I could be wrong here but if you’re using mixed in Key, rekordbox 5 onwards has an inbuilt way of doing this.
hi mate
I have limited laptop knowledge but if running on a budget for rekordbox you could get one of these for windows
I own both. The screen on the Macbook is far better and brighter. Should do you for another 3-5 years yet.
If not choosing those just make sure they 1) have an SSD and 2) have 16gb or more of RAM.
(They will run on 8gb but we’re entering territory with software now where thats pushing it)
NasserAlazzawi another 5 years out of a 10 year old mac?
well worth that
NasserAlazzawi
I’m a Denon man @NasserAlazzawi
Just the SC6000’s and my mixer. All sorted now I wrote down what order to do stuff in
erik yeah, i’ve seen rekordbox still working on 2009 macs. Can’t be certain but I think I saw someone said a 2008 one worked too.
The 2015 models are handy / were ahead of their time but others were too. Eventually you stop getting OSX upgrades but Rekordbox want everyone on the software as much as poss so they do tend to make the software work way way back.
