Smallman1 RIP - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/30/so-its-goodbye-to-londons-standard-my-old-paper-and-to-the-heart-of-democracy-local-news I for one will miss it, read it most weekdays.
RichM Smallman1 can’t you just read it online instead? I can’t remember the last time I read a physical newspaper.
alistair Love newspapers. It’s a luxury reading the Sunday Times and all its sections. Spend far too much time on screens as it is.
ScottBailey At least we can rest assured Ed is not one of the melts who scrolls through TikTok on loudspeaker, on the train. Viva la journal!
Along_the_Wire The Evening Standard is a shambles - losing £18m a year and even at its peak in the early 90s is was losing £12m. A vanity project.
alistair Along_the_Wire I concur. Refuse to take it even when it was thrust into my hands at the tube station.
alistair Millsy not what it was, still better than The Observer though. I did used to quite like Music Monthly though lol
bosstrabs Just imagining Smallman doing analogue biz trans on a rotary phone, neck caught up in the cord.
