Yeah they’ve always been there. I think there are slightly more but its the drastic reduction of normal / average every day people that has been striking since moving back from Cyprus.
I saw it on my Christmas visits so didn’t notice it then as it was nice and buzzing with german food/drink markets and all that jazz.
If you go to the right foodie places there are still plenty in there (love the Fenwicks food hall)
I always thought stealing phones was a bit of a no-no now cos of all the tracking tech but there still seems to be money in it / ways to wipe and sell it on.
I witnessed a charver stealing bakes from Greggs round the corner on the same visit - its not just phones. Bakes can not be tracked.
