Working people is all encompassing. It’s also a way of lumping minimum wage workers and those earning vastly more in the same bracket, without pointing out that there’s a substantial earnings disparity between them,

The employer NI increase has added £200k to our staff budget for next year. I work in social housing so that’s £200k less that we’ll have to spend on maintaining our properties (granted I haven’t seen if there are any benefits coming our way)

gcw that and the nmw increase will hit businesses hard. But then they could’ve changed corporation tax I suppose.

gcw as an employer, would you be more or less likely to hire more staff/give your employees a decent annual salary rise and increase the amount the % you pay into their pensions after that budget has piled on those extra costs??
Still some positives such as the freeze on income tax bands will come to an end in 2028 and she froze fuel duty and tax. She also didn’t fuck around with pension tax relief
I’d be keeping an eye on government borrowing costs now that they have switched the taps on
