Mad_Cyril 303abuser Didn’t see, have disconnected from the TV for a few weeks. Some of the write-ups I’ve read make it sound like a classic
303abuser Mad_Cyril It was a classic for sure. I don’t understand how anyone finishes that strong after the early pace.
Mad_Cyril 303abuser Easy to underestimate what it takes to win gold, I guess. Events like that give the lay person (fat bastard here) a small insight. Literally everything beyond the limit . Will watch when I can, thanks for posting
alistair 303abuser another close, quick race and another American beating the Brit to silver. Hudson Smith couldn’t have done much more beating his own PB.
303abuser Mad_Cyril Race pacing is a really difficult thing to get right and at that level, it’s a knife’s edge. Every marginal detail matters and sometimes it just comes down to having the legs on the day or not. It’s one of the reasons I love racing so much, you really get to find out where you sit competitively. alistair Was that the 400? Haven’t seen anything today, had to work unfortunately.
Along_the_Wire 303abuser always aim for a negative split - if you over cook it in the early stages, it can really bite you hard later. Don’t follow the early pace. Doesn’t suit everyone and is open to exploitation.
303abuser Along_the_Wire Yeah my best 5-21k efforts have been negative splits. Psychologically it just feels easier when you’re passing people at the end instead of getting passed. I tend to aim for even splitting really long runs.
Amps Along_the_Wire Compared to the male pros, maybe, but they’re also still better than about 99% of all other skateboarders out there.
hugopal It seems they’re now allowing Special Olympics constestants to compete in the regular Olympics:
