Or if you fancy a mash up Romy from the XX has been banging out, get a loada this bad boy……..
Binary Finary is a good tune. Personally I wouldn’t consider it a guilty pleasure.
If you like that Ariana Grande mash-up abomination though? Jesus fucking christ. It just sounds all sorts of wrong. The two don’t even match with each other properly.
bosstrabs I don’t have particular fondness for:
Binary Finary, Gouryella, Out of the Blue, Bullet in the Gun, Not Over Yet, Diving Faces
Binary Finary > all the other ones you’ve listed there.
Gouryella is pure cheese. Out of the Blue I don’t think is Ferry’s best work. Bullet in the Gun and Not Over Yet have both got tired. Diving Faces not sure it was ever as much a “classic”? And also quite cheesy.
ScottBailey another one where I don’t know how anyone could consider it a “guilty pleasure”?! It’s just a banger. Probably the most acceptable Faithless tune.
Amps Yeah, it was always a broad church. The boys in the office liked their US house, so you’d regularly get Sanchez, Sneak, Onionz, Joeski or the like for a bit of balance. Once Bugged Out came over it shifted around a bit, some people going to the Friday night etc.
Would say this was Creams silver period, downward trajectory

Maybe start another thread to establish the definition fk a guilty pleasure?
Might make the board run more smoothly in the future
Also, again the term “guilty pleasure” should be fairly self-explanatory. There needs to be some element of it whereby you’re aware that a fair few other people may find it a weird thing to like and perhaps a bit cringe - and therefore you may feel a bit hesitant or “guilty” about sharing it. If it’s just something you share proudly and you expect many others would understand and agree with then it’s just a “pleasure”.
Posting generally accepted stone-cold classic, non-cheesy trance doesn’t really fit the criteria.
alistair good pick - borderline on the cheese front, but prob just about fairly falls in to the guilty pleasure category by virtue of it having been a pretty mainstream hit and basically everything else made by G&D being horrendous shite.
elrobertos Alternatively, post some of your guilty pleasures and contribute good vibes.
Hmm, fine.
These are perhaps the two “cheesiest” Gatecrasher era tunes I still have a fondness for:
I had also considered some Ferry Corsten stuff, but then I couldn’t say they’d be in the slightest guilty pleasures as his stuff is just too good for that.
For me when I got into the trance/ pogressive house music around 1998 I was previously only into drum n bass and techno, so some of the cheesier end of trance at the time was still interesting to me. Obvious choice in this thread for me was
But I probably loved a bit of ATB at some point then too!
I caught these tracks aged 15/16 at school right before my first Godskitchen experience happened later in 2002.
If it wasn’t for one close school friend influencing my music taste (when no one else seemed to be into it) on mini disk players and Napster / Audiogalaxy I wouldn’t have gone in this direction at all and definitely wouldn’t be a DJ.
Some of the proper Trance I later got into at Promise / Goodgreef etc made me wish I was born 4 years earlier so I could have seen what many of you guys did. I always heard the stories / could feel the enthusiasm about what went down around / after 1999 in particular.
I got about 2 more years out of Trance before heading more in the Prog/House/Techno direction (Trance scene died off in Newcastle around 2005) but it was attending the Trance warmups where I discovered Prog etc.
Trance was the gateway drug for me even though I never seek it out now - searching for those tunes above has just brought loads of class memories back - so thank you!
