Hursty Saw a lot of this over the last couple of years, it was annoying especially in the crypto tech space

Hmm, the press are strangely quiet on this.

It’s especially funny as many were so keen to tow the line that shadow banning wasn’t happening when the issue was first mentioned in 2018.

Check out this Guardian article from that year for instance:

"Is there any basis for the idea that conservatives are being targeted for shadow bans?
No – at least not based on what Vice purported to show.
[…]
“We do not shadow ban,” a Twitter spokesperson flatly told the Guardian. “Our behavioural ranking doesn’t make judgments based on political views or the substance of tweets.”"

But are they going to write a mea culpa article now? *crickets**

‘Shit just got real!’ as SM001 would say. ‘This Elon post is a doozy!’

hugopal not sure how they can say they didn’t, regardless of the Twitter files it was obvious as a user

It’s been fun to watch Glenn Greenwald get madder and madder about the fact that no one cares.

Greenwald, Taibbi, and Weiss; talk about a murderers row of journalistic talent.

It has to be wokeness because the idea that people naturally hate shithead fail-son billionaires is not an appealing alternative.

The irony of Musk becoming the biggest troll on Twitter. I’d love to flake the fucking head off him.

So on the one hand we have Musk who is being lambasted by some for allowing ‘free speech’ to this comment from the Guardian today talking about Mubarak who stifled ‘free speech’

“Mubarak is considered a military autocrat who ruled Egypt for 30 years, maintaining his grip on office through a crackdown on political opposition, routinely running for re-election unopposed and stifling free speech.”

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/dec/14/tories-billionaire-murbarak-minister-mohamed-mansour-party-senior-treasurer-mohamed-mansour-egypt

What type of ‘free speech’ do people want then? One which is moderated by the people or one which is moderated by the few?

We seem to be in a pickle with this conundrum

Homegrove this would be concerning if it was against the current stock market narrative but if you take a look at 2022, it’s not been a great year for tech stocks

This isn’t news in other words
