It is not made at all clear what this “paper trail” actually consists of. A lot of the heavy lifting could be being done by this “declaration” the supposed “friend” has written which alleges that the claimed incident took place. The article does not state that the incredibly ambiguous “other documents” it has actually includes the NDA and its contents. Quoting from the article:
“The incident, which took place in 2016, is alleged in a declaration signed by a friend of the attendant and prepared in support of her claim. The details in this story are drawn from the declaration as well as other documents, including email correspondence and other records shared with Insider by the friend.”
Here’s something else which should also make everyone very suspicious about the whole thing. The Guardian, which generally really doesn’t like Elon Musk and will throw its weight behind basically any sexual abuse claim at the drop of a hat, went out of its way in its reporting of the story to state:
“The Guardian has not been able to verify the Business Insider account”
That should raise red flags.
