Don’t Chelsea have all their new players on performance related contracts? So they get a fair bit lower base but bonuses for appearances and success? Think that is the direction football will move in - as Man Utd have shown, you really do not want to be stuck with highly paid but out of form players for years. Likes of United won’t be paying the Phil Jones of this world the sort of sums they have unless they’re playing every week…
