Well at least it’s not switching for Southgate or Frank. A bit disappointing really that they couldn’t find a clear upgrade to switch him for, but not a huge surprise that he stays. But now the club really has to do a lot of good business in the transfer market and sort out the injury record so he can have no more excuses next season.
The main viable option who I thought seemed the most exciting was McKenna, but perhaps it was still too soon for him. This way they can give McKenna a chance to see how he can do in the Prem with Ipswich, then if he’s doing well and Ten Hag is still floundering there’ll probably be clauses in their contracts that’d make bringing McKenna in for him later on fairly straight-forward.
mrrossi So has he signed an extension or are they gonna dump him at the end of next season?
In Ten Hag’s current contract he has a veto vote on all transfers; I’ve heard a suggestion, but only a suggestion mind (but a logical one given Ineos’ intended structure) that he may be offered a new contract which removes his veto as a condition for him staying. I’m sure any contract he signs will also include termination agreements for failure to qualify for Europe again etc.
