General Football Nonsense
I like Delap, an old school bruiser who can play.
See Wazza’s lost his job after only 7 month down in Plymouth. Think it’s time for him to call it a day on his management dream.
AmorWRONG giving it the relegation chat is proper Hodgson territory.
Interested to see what they do in this window.
Bring back Ole
And the Glazers.
And Pogba
Moyes is available.
ScottBailey Joining the lengthening list of great players who failed at management. Least he gave it a proper go.
@Mad_Cyril Three points for you at the weekend? Hit us on the counter? Smash and grab win? Start our blip? King makers in the league? Or something else?
How many world class players have also made it as great* managers?
I put the asterisk in there because there is always a debate about King Kenny, whether he was a great manager or simply inherited a great side and then built another one at Blackburn with endless funds.
I can think of:
Johan Cruyff (European Cup win with Barcelona)
Kenny Dalglish
Franz Beckenbauer
Zidane
Mario Zagallo
Diego Simeone
Pep Guardiola/Antonio Conte/Carlo Ancelotti/Didier Deschamps (were they truly great players in the class of the above? Debatable, although all won a lot of caps)
I’ll throw Mancini and Vialli in there, being a little bit generous.

Brian Clough could still ping a ball even after he was balls deep on the sauce. Not sure if he’d make that list though.
I’ll also throw in Mark Hateley as a player manager.
Actually no he was fucking shit.
I reckon Kenny did more than enough with that Liverpool team to call it his own. Three titles in six years, signed Barnes, Beardsley, Aldo, Houghton, McMahon etc. He did plenty of his own work.
Anyone at Real and Barca can fuck off, it’s difficult to lose with that much cash in such a pony league. they’re not proving anything.
So, basically, Kenny and Beckenbauer. No idea how good a player Zagallo or Simeone really were. I know they were internationals, but so was Carlton Palmer.
