Hursty that last point would be why I would just put Ronaldo ahead of Messi as he has proved himself in a few top leagues.

However there is no denying Messi is one of the best and he doesn’t need to play in any other leagues to prove that. He has done it in the CL and WC to prove how great a player he is.

Agree, the Ballon d’or is nonsense, long history of choosing the wrong player.

Ronaldinho won it once, for example, and from about 2003-2006 was by some distance the best footballer on the planet. In fact, probably the most skilful footballer in my lifetime.
