Hursty that last point would be why I would just put Ronaldo ahead of Messi as he has proved himself in a few top leagues.

However there is no denying Messi is one of the best and he doesn’t need to play in any other leagues to prove that. He has done it in the CL and WC to prove how great a player he is.

I would put Hendo above them both, as he has proved it in a rainy Tuesday night at Stoke.

RichM Messi was the best player in arguably the best club team of all time (Pep’s Barca). Moreover, he carried a poor Barca team to league titles in his last few years at the club. Oh and @Hursty ballon d’ors are the currency these top top players trade in. They really matter

Big difference between Ronnie and Messi is Messi can still pass a ball beautifully and has the kind of vision and awareness of others CR7 has never had. It’s no coincidence that Benzema is playing the best football of his life without him.

As for proving yourself in different leagues, I think you have to be considered GOAT.

The French league is a farmers league, so yes Mbappe is unproven at the highest level which for me is club football.

Ligue 1 players have a distinct advantage in playing in the Champions League having not had the rigour of the likes of the Premier League. And look at all those CL trophies they’ve won because of it.
