Not a silver bullet but we do need a midfielder who can take the ball off the back line and progress it forward, since about 10 years ago.
In the first half Martinez was showing signs of frustration at the lack of anyone showing for the ball - sauce doing his usual hide behind an opponent and Fred chasing butterflies.
All the while the CB’s are reduced to funnelling it across the back line or a slabhead 60y crossfield Hail Mary.
And that’s when we’ve got the ball.
FDJs skill set is exactly this, not sure Rabiot is the same.
However… Rabiots mum is a notorious barmcake, wouldn’t surprise me if we agree terms and she turned us down 😂
We’re not the pull we used to be, and not smart enough to pick up good young players and develop them.
Takes time to sort all that out.
