Cankles-McJeggings For the avoidance of doubt, yes - I’m in favour of removing the Glazers. I don’t hold them fully accountable, but I think their style of ownership over the past 15 years is a significant part of the reason for Utd’s decline. It’s just too simplistic to lay it all on them. Yes, they saddled the club with £600m of debt, which cost £500m to service over a ten year period. Had Utd not had transfer funds during those ten years, then yeah - they’d be on the hook. Not the case though. The club has spent poorly, Underinvested in the club’s facilities, and allowed the academy system to falter.
In terms of ‘other’ scapegoats - Woodward’s gone, and Arnold seems to be better. The managers that under performed have gone. Ten Hag has started the lengthy clear-out of deadwood from the team, and will hopefully be given the time to fix some of the inherent problems with the squad.
And before it’s suggested that I have Ferguson tinted spectacles, it’s notable that some of the poor player investment started in the last few years of his tenure at the club. Smalling, Jones, Bébé, Young, Zaha - all recruited by Bacon Face, and they represent some of the high spots of our transfer activity in the past 10 years. Woeful.
