Brazilian friend of mine said, thinking this was some reassuring comment, that he might get in the Brazil squad for the WC… better bloody bad at 85m!!! Is any Man Utd fan not sceptical about this signing? And why on Earth didn’t they buy a striker rather than another winger?

I’m not an expert, so being sceptical solely based on his fee, or stats or whatever, seems presumptuous.

I assume there’s something there that football professionals see. We seem to be looking at people with the ‘right character’ as well as footballing ability, about time to be honest.

Happy to trust the football professionals to do what they see as best for the team. I wouldn’t tell an electrician how to wire my house.

Be interesting to see how it pans out anyway!

Exactly one week ago, United were in crisis, fans were protesting, the media were talking about relegation battles etc. Then they beat Liverpool, blow another wad on a player and everyone’s happy again.

3 days ago Liverpool were in crisis, it was ‘7th season syndrome ’ for Klopp and the end was nigh. A 9-0 later and its all good again. Suppose its a symptom of 24/7 football coverage where the narrative changes by the hour
