Who will actually come in and do that for a couple of months? And what would be the point anyway?
Lampard’s just an inoffensive placeholder who’ll at least command a modicum of respect given his status with the club. It’ll be on the next proper manager to actually bash those heads together once things matter again.
Trying to pretend to the players that there’s something to play for and to pretend to act like it, when there isn’t, is a waste of energy. Two months for that bunch will hardly make a difference for changing the “rot” as you say, and it’s not like if they even impressed between now and the end of the season it’ll really matter as the next permanent manager will likely view things as a clean slate anyway.
The proper work will start again in the next pre-season.
