At club level, it’s a disasterclass of epic proportions, reflected in the squad we’ve ‘built’ over the last 10 years and attitudes we’ve cultivated by giving massive salaries and contracts to ‘retain the value’ (accounting theory that doesn’t translate to football).
That’s a lot for one man to resolve.
I’m not sure how much he’s had to step in identifying players for the old regime but their history would indicate recruitment is a chaotic process with some puzzling outcomes. Look at Antony & Casimero, both panic buys that indicate a flawed approach and are crippling us financially.
There’s no way he’s in charge of buying since Berrada et al landed. And no way he signed off on the ridiculous sums payed for the two mentioned previously.
We’re now financially on the borderline & still have elements of the bad attitudes that we haven’t yet weeded out - I don’t believe that 1st half on Sunday was bad Tactics, was just players not taking responsibility. Tactics don’t stand a chance when you keep passing to the opposition.
Maybe they don’t believe in him?
On the plus side, Bald has made a good start at weeding out a lot of the shite, and had encouraging signs in bringing in some of our Academy talent. Both causes for optimism.
Its hard to know without being on the inside, maybe he’s out of his depth. If we do decide to replace him though, the new guy better be bald.
