bosstrabs Rhouses likes BEAMS because they incorporate rolled steel joints into their clothing for structural integrity. United Arrows make darts shirts for the girthier gentleman.
rhouses @vinnyt77 @Henry Any decent tokyo hotel recommendations? Staying at the Otani when we fly in, but want to pick something different for the last two nights with my Dad.
RichM rhouses I stayed in the Conrad Tokyo when I was there and that was lovely. Was about 15 years ago though!
rhouses vinnyt77 mid-high if that make sense? Same pricing as Otani? Reliable, but cultural 5 star? Friend recommended Hoshinoya, which is like $1500 a night, that’s wild. RichM Tad bit generic Rich, but will give it a look!
RichM rhouses tbf the main reason for staying there was to be close to the old Tsukiji fish market so I could eat sushi at 6am! And wanted to be by the Hamarikyu gardens as that was a great place to chill
vinnyt77 rhouses If you can stretch to $600 a night, Park Hyatt. More around the $300-$400 range - The Imperial
rhouses Father is refusing to share a twin bed room, not putting up with my snoring. Fair play. Been booking two rooms for the whole trip, budget is tad bit of a factor. Booked APA just for the visa, had no plans to stay there but this story was horrifying haha: https://www.tokyoweekender.com/japan-life/news-and-opinion/ukrainian-model-claims-she-found-a-man-hiding-under-her-bed-in-tokyo-hotel/
rhouses RichM We’re doing Tsukiji as well. Been pushing to go early morning, does it make a difference? Also does it have that cult tamago place? We’ll be doing TeamLabs the same day, pretty packed.
RichM rhouses I’ve no idea what it’s like now as it’s moved from its original location. Back when I went a lot of the sushi places got great quality fish from the market, and would be sold out by lunch. So going at 6am was essential to get in.
vinnyt77 rhouses The daily market has moved to Toyousu. There’s still some cool action around Tsukiji, but make sure that’s what you’re after…
Smallman1 Rhouses if you want to go to a proper fish market, you need to come to London and go to Billingsgate.
