I’m thinking about reorganising my CD collection and vinyl collection (pay someone to clean them all with a vinyl cleaner) along with stray DVDs. Mostly to get rid of them and sell em off. Is there a market for this anymore? Whats the best way to go about this?

Guessing all of us on this forum had or have insane CD vinyl collections from the 90s and 2000s, what did you end up doing with them?

I kept about 3,000 of my best CDs and put them on three long shelves in my hallway. Just as a piece of art, or a plotted personal history of sorts, it’s been worthwhile.

I’ve got a manageable amount of vinyl and I couldn’t get rid of that

I’m actually about to put all mine in temporary storage today… I’m decorating the house top to bottom before putting it on the market and the vinyl and CD collection is just too big to work around. You can add books to that too, thousands of pounds worth of art and design books; they barely get read some of them, they look great on the shelves, but they’re a pain in the hoop to move. The trabs collection is less of an issue, much lighter, but the boxes take up a fuck ton of space.

I’ve thinned it all out over the years, never really getting any money for anything bar the books and trabs. If you have some truly rare music you might get a couple of quid. The problem with vinyl and CDs is that they are designed to last, so if you have a copy, there’s a good chance another copy still exists too. I made the most cash selling old Lego sets. Nobody wanted the actual Lego, because it’s indestructible and as such not very rare, but the buyers were all after the boxes, good condition boxes are much rarer due to the perishable nature of cardboard.

Not to sell but I’d like to catalogue my vinyl. Absolutely not got the time to do it and no way I’d want to do it manually.

I chucked about 500+ CDs in the bin as couldn’t be arsed to try sell them. I kept about 25 for nostalgia reasons, but will prob bin those next time I move. The older I get the more I can be arsed keep old stuff for no reason at all and just storing in boxes in the garage.

            Same here, for certain things.

Have been tempted to start buying vinyl, after a 30 year hiatus. There’s still a certain appeal to collecting, and I like the idea of mixing with, but it quickly passes .

Amps hoarding cds, vinyl, sneakers, books, and lego; overweight and take massive shits and you could be me brother.

Along_the_Wire 3000 is bat shit crazy. Im clocking 500 max. I bet those fucking fabric tins are all rusty.

I went into a local record shop on Friday to have a browse. It was £15 for 12″

I have about 300 CDs in the garage in boxes, a little under 100 in the house. Mostly stuff that’s not on Tidal like the (old) GU, Balance and Renaissance CDs, plus some other stuff. I have about 800 vinyl records left, enough to fit under my DJ desk, so storing them is not an issue. That space is there no matter what. Wife and I have together about a thousand books. And about 600 Blu rays.

We like physical media. Marie Kondo would have a seizure in our house.

I like to think I was quite discerning back in my Vinyl buying 20s. Apart from the odd blooper my collection is BSPF free, so I figured it worth keeping. If you’re the type of cunt who used to buy any old shit on the weekly then probably best off throwing it in the nearest canal.

Got around 500 PEAK TIME POWER PROG cd’s that ain’t going nowhere.

Is right brother ✊ But as an owner of only one property, I doubt I’ll be taking down the system on my own should I decide to go and live in a commune.
