02-02 Marshall Jefferson

I know of this bloke’s ‘legendary’ status, but this is a horrid mix of clunky vocal tracks and clumsy segues e.g. Get Up into This Could Be The Night. With big vocals and pianos everywhere, this is like listening to a shit Morales. 6/10

DJ Sneak - Who’s Knocking [Relief]
Kivaana Tana - Lifeforce [Centrestage]
Cym Lajoy - I Live 4 This [PPL]
Byron Stingily - Get Up [Nervous]
Aphroqueens - This Could Be The Night (The Piano Anthem) [Underground Society]
Paris Red - Love Hurts [UCA]
If You’re Down With This - If You’re Down With This [PPL]
Dee Jacobee - I’m Alive [Mercury]
Rah Band - Living For The Nightlife [SkinnyMalinky]
D.P.Projects - Get Down [Damont]
Terry Lee Brown Jr. - Impact State (Next Generation) [Plastic City]
Terry Lee Brown Jr. - City Lights [Plastic City]
Bohannon - I Wanna Dance All Nite [EMI]
Mijan - Alright [Sur N’Sude]
Mankind - Make It Hot [Z]
The Absolute Introducing Suzanne Palmer - There Will Come A Day [Tribal]
Thelma Houston - All Of That [Azuli]
Kym Mazelle - Useless [EMI]
Roy Davis - Heart Attack [Power]
Andrew ‘Doc’ Livingstone - Signs Of Life [Mars]

Get up was ubiquitous that year. Horrible.

    02-09 Scott Hardkiss (RIP)
A wonderful snapshot of its time, clearly a one-take mix with no tidying-up in the editing, it’s genuinely evocative of a main room at probably 3am-5am back in the day. Pure shivers as The Reese Project - Direct-Me (Sasha’s 3am Drop Mix) is dropped. Drifts into fondue territory soon after with Rocket Man into Not Over Yet and then plain weird Apocalypse Now territory with the Morrison-sampling ‘Stoned’. It’s a really difficult mix to give a simple mark to, so out of respect it I’ll say the highs outweigh the lows and give it 7.5/10.

Fazed Idjuts - Dust Of Life
One Dove - White Love (Psychic Masturbation) [FFRR - PR12-044-1]
Hawke And God Within - Acid Funk [Hardkiss - HK 009]
Republica - Ready To Go (Gavin And Scott Hardkiss’ Remixica) [RCA - RDAB-64539-1]
Rabbit In The Moon - O.B.E. (Out-Of-Body Experience) (Phase One) [Hallucination - HAL 002]
Symbiosis - Of The Mind Of The Spirit [Sunburn - SPF 001]
    The Reese Project - Direct-Me (Sasha’s 3am Drop Mix) [Network - NWKT87]
Elton John - Rocket Man (Scott Hardkiss Remix) [Not On Label - PMT 009]
Grace - Not Over Yet (B.T’s Spirit Of Grace) [Perfecto - PERF 104 T]
    Slim Morrison - Stoned [NYC/KGB - Slim 12001]
    Rollin Gear - I, I Know (Beats Mix) [UF - 15G]
God Within - Raincry [Hardkiss - HK 004]
Scott Hardkiss Presents God Within - Why, Why, Why? (Olympic Terrorist Original Mix) [Hardkiss]
Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea [Jumpin’ & Pumpin’ - 12 TOT 17]
    The Sandals - Feet (Fungus Mix) [FFRR - 697 120 036-1DJ]
God Within - Indian Summer [Sunburn - 54291-0]
Boo Williams - Snare Tappin [Relief - RR 766]
    Sheila - Acid Kiss [Quark - QK020]
God Within - The Phoenix [Hardkiss - HK 006]
The Temptations - Plastic Man [Tamla Motown - 5C 006-94507]

bosstrabs Do you understand how chronology works Smallman?

      Lol!

      Fair dos!

alistair Get up was ubiquitous that year. Horrible.

Spent some time with Byron Stingily in Ibiza that year.

      He was an absolute clown.

      KLANG.

Smallman1 is it true Byron Stingily was a Carl Cox sub project?

Smallman1 Too much of the ol Movin’ movin’ slidin’ slidin’, rockin’ ?

You can have half a lol for that SD!

Anyone for a guest slot? 02-16 is Masters at Work and 02-23 is Nick Warren.

How about a Tim Burgess like listening party for the prog ones starting with Nick Warren? Tin hat at the ready!

If I never listened to another Nick Warren set in my life I’d absolutely be ok.

If he does occasionally scan this board, I’m sure he feels the same way about your restaurant posts.

An absolute hall of famer that thread Dave!

I’m biased on this one, as I think it’s one of the best mixes ever put together, and have listened to it endlessly for the last twenty odd years. The Reese Project… very rare to find a track with that level of brooding tension.

Did jonathan bond not post up the entire year review in one fell swoop? Dave seems to be listening to one mix a week here. No point rushing an artist at his work, i suppose…

Felt like Jonnattan really committed to it whereas Dave is just phoning this one in big time.

It’s a masterpiece. Dave slowly disintegrating in front of our very eyes. A self proclaimed messageboard behemoth coming apart at the seams, post by post.

We don’t want to look, but can’t help it.

There’s no graceful way out, so he has to soldier on, knowing his own MBB moment is inevitable.

          TLDR; reg

Dave is the message boards answer to Steve Beaton.

You see the occasional piece of genius but he’s absolutely shot to bits the rest of the time.

Lads, lads, lads, worry ye not.

This will be heading into Thread of the Year territory by the time I’ve finished.
