Anybody here of this or use it.? I saw reviews of it and it look pretty good.

I was looking at this too for doing mixes . Looked pretty good but never got round to purchasing . I’d say if you learn Ableton you can prep mixes on that too, but DJStudio looks a good option if not .

For me, I find with Ableton you pretty much need to have a pretty good idea of what you’ve going to play before you start. Time taken to warp the tracks and the huge number of channels that you can run different automation on means it’s not really suited to just throwing tracks into it and trying them out- so I plan mixes in Mixmeister. Others may disagree- I’d be interested in what @Unbroken1 thinks.

It’s well worth picking up. I’ve used to arrange offline before - get tracks, sequence in order whilst away from the decks.

Never actually done a mix with, don’t quite see the point when heavily invested in expensive equipment!

I’ve used it a bit- it’s not really good enough to do a decent studio mix with IMO (use Ableton), more for planning a mix by dropping different tracks into the DAW and seeing how they sound in the mix. However, in this respect Mixmeister Studio, although much older is much faster in terms of loading (I can try maybe 10 transitions a min with MM, conmpared to maybe 3-4 with DJS) and easier to tweak. I don’t like these slow load times (comparatively) and the need to run MIK on every track before you can start playing with transitions on DJS. It has however had about 1000 updates since I last tried it, so may be much better now.

Was just coming back to say this, it has improved - though I can’t compare to MM so this is relatively useless info 😂

Wasily …kinda agree, as far as DJ mixes go, personally find it helps if you have a rough structure laid-out in the form of approximate track order in a playlist first (and ideally ‘know’ the mixes work having tried them on some kind of DJ setup).

There are a lot more bells & whistles to Live, which is a potential hindrance if you are new to it and just wanna sling tracks in to see what they sound like together, but like anything, familiarity with it makes you much faster (stuff like warping), and there’s always the option to create a stripped-down template exactly for this purpose if that’s what you want to use it for.

Thank you guys for responding. The reason I’m asking is because I have seen demos of DJ studio and it appears to do all the tedious shit you would normally have to do in Ableton for you.
That was why I was interested in it.
Also,I have a Live Lite license but I don’t think I can do much with the 8 track limit.

If you’re gonna go “in the box” so to speak, when not just use tracktor and a cheap midi controller?

I wanted something to bang out a mix on the go, without have to be at my rekordbox/ddj400 setup.
Yeah, those moment where I can’t be ’arsed".
When I get home from cooking all day at my job I am really not in the mood to get on the “decks”.

Revisited this and found that I can import my whole Denon DJ library, use it to compile a mix (see what goes with what) very easily.

Picks up key and BPM straight from Denon so loads quickly as well.

Not sure why I was over complicating it previously. Might be the tedium breaker I was looking for!
