There’s been a huge shift away from all the flashy bluetooth “pods” over the last 12 months for safety reasons. Not sure I need my brain fried any more than it already is. A good friend is high up in Siemens and he’s been telling us for years not to go near them. To be honest I don’t use them anyway but was wondering how others felt about the switch back to cable headphones?

At the risk of ‘weeds’ I’m interested to hear what your friend’s reason is for not going near them. I’ve seen quite a lot of cables around but assumed they’re more of a retro statement thing as opposed to any genuine health concern.

LT42 would this not pose the question “why not ditch your mobile phone too” for the same reasons? Surely nothing in bluetooth headphones that you aren’t already sticking to your ear with your phone.

Wasily I’m sure his gripe is about long term usage and maybe some stuff he’s heard himself in-house. People working from home and having them in their ears all day, or using them everywhere they go, can’t be good. Phones are actually worse, pretty sure thats the case.

Paid my apple tax for AirPod pro 3 and they are a massive step up from 2 with ANC and much deeper bass. Probably due to having a much better fit.

Have got the Sony 4s for over ear but these are getting close for sound quality.

Mad_Cyril compared them to 2 on the flight yesterday and the ANC was night and day. But the sound quality is a huge step up for me.

Will take them for a run tomorrow. Hold tight etc.

I think this is due to two things:

We’re all getting older, so want our peace and quiet, or at least be able to listen to our Dave Seaman late 90s/early 2000s BSPF mixes undisturbed.
The world around is getting noisier too, fuck me it was abysmal last time I took the train in the UK and hadn’t brought headphones: rowdy families with kids who have their tablets on full blast, but actually even worse than that is the announcement spam - every few minutes ‘See it, say it, sorted’.
