It’s funny how few of their “tracks of the decade” now make it on to this ‘tracks of the century so far’ list. Again, almost as if a lot of their picks are driven by them trying to “shape trends”, cynically create narratives, or sneak in personal “under-appreciated” opinions; as opposed to actually focusing on enduring quality. I supposed partly in line with @maxiqum ’s apparent point above.
Dan Two gems off that list.
Seeing the RA 2010-19 list reminded me - as good a track as ‘Ragysh’ is, there is no real excuse for ‘Inspector Norse’ to suddenly fall below it in RA’s supposed rankings (and be as far down as 128). ‘Inspector Norse’ was a humongous tune when it came out and one of the few RA ‘top 20 Tracks of the Decade’ picks which both deserved to be there at the time and which also now made it in to this ‘Best of 2000-25’ list.
It’s the kind of huge, stone-cold classic which will deservedly still get included on such lists for decades to come; while other more faddish, niche, or “cool” picks continue to get forgotten about.
